Billy (10673km): Holloways Beach, QLD, AU Well that was a fun little sail with Freddo, Ed, B2 and The Captn - 12-15 then built into a very pleaseant 15-17 and then backed down later in the arvo. Stoked at the KM's. Decided early in the piece after dropping 4 or more gybes that I may as well just do the K's. Great to have Freddo's company on the last few runs out and back. The bugger was climbing all over me in the milder breeze towards the end of the day. Breeze freshened up nicely half way through which added a bit of excitememt. Fun day but....and great to see the Latte King down from on high and paid us wallowers a visit. Used: The Tank (AHD FreeDiamond 140), 8.6 Lost RB, BPR 475 | ||||||||||||||||||
Freddy Burke (12114km): Holloways with Billy,Eddy,Benny and Kel. Very late start compared to the others and then had some problems rigging up..... thanks to Benny's lateral thinking I was able to have a sail...he tied the down haul pulley block on to the bottom of the sail after the hook broke during the down haul stage of rigging up. Before heading out I had a look for Billy and Kel and both were no where to be seen.Kel finished his session not long after I had started and I sailed with Billy on the last 20 or so klm's of his distance pb. Will done William .....congratulations ....well deserved. Great to catch up with Eddy who had a few issues with his fin today. Benny as aways put a great effort in and is getting close with his jibes...won't be long now. Didn't see much of Kel but when I did manage a glimse he was moving well.....as we would expect. Benny McCarthy (15191km): Holloways Beach, QLD, AU Fun session had with B1, Kel, Freddo & the Fox!- Great to see Ed make his way down from latte land where the rich and famous frolic to sail off our home turf! Had to keep hard on the wind today with the more Easterly breeze to prevent any chances of a walk of shame... Endured some frustrating spin outs from the get go. Note to self- my 42.5 fin just doesn't cut the mustard with the big rig when sailing in these conditions... Decided to take a break after an hour or so to try and help Freddo rigging up- bad move that was... When applying some downhaul pressure, damn broke the pulley on Freddo's sail. Pondered for a few moments (feeling like an arse) then put on the Macgyver helmet- said to Freddo, "mate have you got some spare rope?". Five or so minutes later, back in business with a retro fitted broken pulley... Subtly suggested to Freddo the pulley may have been on it's way out anyways (mainly to make myself feel better)... Decided then to divert the conversation to how good B1 (#Free Willy#Billy the Bludger#William the Conqeuror#Call him what you like) was going far out on the horizon!! Huge congratulations on the distance PB mate!!! Kel (super impressive as usual), Ed & Freddo looked to be having some good fun also. Still working on the gybes...again... Beautiful sunny day to be out sailing ~ pretty girls on the beach (OMG bikini bottoms fashion has definately changed nowadays!) ~ birds fluttering ~ fish tails wagging ~ just another great day to get amongst it! Used Exocet 135 Severne OD 8.6 BP Sabre 42.5 "Long May our Big Jibs Draw!"

Eddy (24292km): Holloways Beach, QLD, AU Yer this is the story for what its worth..Got a invite from Billy to go sail with the' A TEAM' at Holloways beach ,since its the best offer i have had for awhile i decided to go for a blast..First surprise i got ,was there was actually a bit of a breeze blowing, the Captian had just rigged up and went out carving it up with B1 and B2..Rigged burnt out no cam 7.8m gastra on trusty 117 Iso..The Isonic should of been flying all arvo and clocking up some serious km's .. BUT IT WASN'T.. And the only person to blame is me..Went down there not prepaired to do battle..My much luved 44cm slamon fin which i use in this board all the time and was the perfect all round fin for the job is no longer with us, thanks to an angary turtle i met the last time i sailed.. It decided to smach it for me..'you get that' some times...Was running a 48cm free ride fin which is meant for a bigger board and maybe a heavier sailor...My normaly super slick ' light wind screamer 'handled like a 'wounded pig' the whole time so this is the best i could do..Had the 105 Fox there as back up but not quiet enough breeze to keep it fully lit up..On the bright side of things it was nice to catch up with Captian Kel, Fast Freddie..Both men kicked ass all arvo..And Billy and Benny who were having a' bitch slapping session' over Benny's Lost fin..Not sure how that all ended up.. Saw Benny almost pull off his first gybe he came so close thought he had it..Man of the match goes to Billy ,thats the best i have seen him sail and he has a' pb' for his effort well done mate...Cheers ED.. |
