dr cam (41674km): Green Island, QLD, AU Great day on the Island with Kel /Reuben & Bennie MC in ~ 18-25 knots.Nice Neap Tides Used the new Jp 2019 slalom 60 -what a great board !! with the Evo 10 7m2 & Tribal delta 18 then Tribal SW 27 . Pleasantly surprised with the speeds today -was expecting 35 knot peaks if we were lucky but wind was solid 25 knots at times . Gorgeous day /happy to be back after a month lay off following coronary stenting ... No pain today -lots of joy instead !!

Benny McCarthy (15191km): Green Island, QLD, AU Super fun day out on the island with the Guns! Nice wind, nice neap tide and some nice sshhaallooww waters !! Small fins were definately in order for today. I reckon the 18cm Tribal I recently bought off Dr Cam saved me on numerous occasions- thanks again Cam and super sweet to see you blasting about after the lay off- I actually thought you cracking a joke on the trip over! Just great to see the guns giving it a red hot crack on the speed run today! After I sorted my harness lines out, I tried my little dandy off to keep in touch, arm pump and all... Bloody hard taskmasters... Sunny all day long ~ Blue Skies ~ Boardies ~ & a couple of PB's to boot (I didn't even give the NM a thought with a few skill related fin slips involved- although noticed the small Tribal fin was relatively easy to tuck back in after a skid)... Was thinking about cracking the tonne today for distance, but the fuel tank was running a little low towards the end of the sesh, so I thought it be best to quite while ahead with no broken gear Capt'n Kel gets man of the match & Reuben gets another PB, well deserved too! GI truly is such a magical place to sail! Used Exocet Turbo 106, Severne OD R4 7, Tribal 18 "Long May our Big Jibs Draw!"

Billy (10673km): Port Douglas, QLD, AU Wow, another great sesh at Green by the looks. Well done B2 on a 3 of a Kind, Binny with a back up PB and a story to tell - bit like Ed. Came ashore very much in the vain of Castaway just after 6pm, but ill let him avail his story to you all of his exploits....no laughing every one, its serious. Me, I just had a cracking arvo in Latte Land with Andrew and then Ed, cause Andrew dissapeared, somewhere, not on the water !!! First run on the WT72 today and had a blast. 13 or so knots early on in the seesion and gradually built to a very nice 18 kts late in the arvo. Water state heaved a bit to. Was lucky enough to hit my third turtle, on my second outing to Port this year, another (brand frikn new) fin box to be repaired. Thats Life, move on. Used: WT 72, 475 BPR, 7.8 OD R4
Eddy (24292km): Port Douglas, QLD, AU..Another hard luck story from Port Douglas..Got down the beach for happy hr ,Andrew and Billy were aiready out playing wind wasn't that strong so it was out with the big gear burnt out 7.8m Gastra 117 Isonic..Decided to track down Billy as he was out playing on his new toy and looking good..Had a few drags with him as the wind started to build up for a good session..All good fun and had a bit of a chat between runs..Wind freshend up and there was 20kts out the back in a choppy sea.. It was time to unleash the new 105 Fox ,put big grastra rig in to full crank down mode and went for a blast..New Fox is a much more refined board than the old one, much lighter under your feet, can not fault the way it handles in any way and it is super slippery in the Gybes even when over powered with big rig and 40cm fin, which is ment to be a bit much for it.. IT was carving around a bit faster than what i am use to, will take a little practice to get dialed right in..Didn't drop any of my gybes which i guess is a good thing..The boys had packed up and wind was looking very solid and i was keen to clock up some kms before dark had a great blast till the very last run..Hit the 20 kt wind line out the back and was fully lit up and feeling good..Then my much luved old Gastra rig split in half, the main panel totaly flew apart and sail was completely in two peaces only held to gether at the luff pocket.. Could no belive it, there was know way i could even limp home on it..Totaly trashed..So had to do a total derig in the water and start my long paddle home was feeling cold, tired and totaly pissed off..Billy must of known 'shit was going down' and decided to hang around till i paddled back to shore and he helped me get my sorry ass back to the car park..Thanks mate drinks will be on me..Should of been a good session..On a happier note i would like to thank' Paul and the crew from Severn' for giving me a new Fox under warranty after my old one died at a very early age, I was under the impression that it was indestructable but apperantely it wasn't..Think i will be a bit kinder to this one as i think it is gunna be the perfect all round board..Cheers Ed. |
