Mackay, QLD, AU

Unexpected session. Finally the constant heavy showers cleared to grey, cold and miserable so today was all about not dropping any gybes. Conditions gusty 12-20kNts and lumpy, made the right call to rig the big kit, but felt pretty clunky after multiple sessions on the smaller freeride kit. Dodged a heap of large wave faces that were begging to be launched from. If only I was on the FSW gear. Could have kept sailing but a hot shower beckoned. Definitely worth it.

Green Island - with Kel, Dave Sandos, Billy GI and Rob from the Boardcrazy Crew, who looked like he'd found heaven.

Senasational day on the island with the Bride and the lads, nice 20kts, sun shining, wildlife a plenty. Couldnt get it together today. Plugged the Kestral 24 in straight away today and headed up onto the flats, but just couldnt hold it together. At speed it kept cavitating out, sending me sideways and was really tough getting it back under without having to abort the run each time Frown. Going to have to find a solution or this isnt the combo for the flats at Green with a limited time to sail.

Sensational to see Rob getting in and having a red hot crack out wide, Kel showing his talents as always , Dave Sandos back on the bike so to speak as if he hadnt had any time away from the sport and young Billy GI with a wide grin on his dial.  Really was a great day out.

Used: WT72, 7.8 ODR4, BP Kestral 24 which I suspect was at it's limits with the 7.8 and the huge backside on the WT.

Hey Billy I know the BP Kestral feeling Dr Cam suggested to not load it up, not sure if it would help in your case with the wide tail Foot in mouth

Hey Billy, I used a FangyFin24 on the WT 72 and didn't have any issue with spin out. If you are going to sail in the shallows regularly I can send you a demo fin to have a try. Let me know Laughing

Great session guys and thanks for all the help getting around the island. A trolley is on the list before my next trip. That place is heaven! I'll have to wait till getting home to check my GPS stats. Pretty sure I had biggest stack of the day though... no damage thankfully.

Billy I gave kestrels away as I don't like how hard they are to get back in when they spin out. +1 for the fangys..

Rob, you looked like a kid in a candy store. Glad you enjoyed it and it was a pleasure having you in our back yard.

Sue, it was touch and go whether or not to put a pointer in, but with limited time up on the flats and the tide dissapearing quickly, I ran with the Kestral all day. Man, when they let go, there's no coming back. You virtually need to come to stand still, and start again.

I hear ya Ruebs, her wide butt would have put to much pressure on the Kestral. Every time I had her pointed down the slot on a run and put the slightest pressure on it, out she went...never to return!!

Ross, thats a very kind offer. Let's talk shortly.
