I had no idea how fit I was and whether I'd last the day but I wanted to try a few gybes before it got too strong.
7m -90ltre. The first try of the Fangy proto and it was good and didn't let go but the wind was patchy and i probably could have used the lift of the cutdown 24 ( 21.5cm FF). Top speed 28kts
I got a few fully planing ones so I was pretty chuffed with that. Too wide for an alpha. It's slowly coming together and the oversheeting at the entry is working.. I don't know whether I'll ffall to bits once I'm back out in big chop..
Came in after an hr and had a rest. I was going to hold off till late when it was supposed to come in but dezza said it was beautiful ao I rerigged the 6.2m - 80 - 20 combo'.
I usually hate the iso in any chop but I eventually got it together and it was good. I was too powered to try and gybe as I was luffing upwind and across to keep control. I need to be able to drive home . I was getting used to the speedrun and getting 31s and 32kts ( ho hum)..I got a massive gust and saw 37.08 on the GT31..Fist pump and instantly got my mojo back..Unfortunately I lost it on upload which is weird as the Gt is generally pretty good and I only lose a smidge..(it would have been a board plus LG pb.. )
Oh well at least it was enough to make me keep trying.
Kept at it and it was nice to see some decent speeds for me..
35.75 / 35.54 /35.06/34.69/33.58.
I remember when I was stuck for years on 34.69kts Pb.
My 4th best 2 sec and 4th best 5 x 10.
Went in for a rest and rerigged the 5.5m - 48 wide - 18.5cm Atomic
First time Ive used the Atomic fin in that board and it was rocksolid and still gave me good speeds..
THe Patrick just cuts through the chop rather than bounces over it. My arms were giving out as I was megapowered on the 5.5m and it was getting too strong so I called it a day.
Fun day.
I had no toruble getting to the top of the run. A few years ago I struggled so I must have improved.
Heaps and heaps out. The road was a carpark but it wasn't an issue on the water , you just had to keep an eye out.
Chop probably 10"out in tthe middle and a bit messy but soft. Some flat stuff but you just had to score a gust..zzzzzzzzzzzzz
