Gustfront (1903km): Port Douglas, Solander. Low tide, so smoothish inside. Was windier than it looked. Pretty powered up on the 6.2. Really nice session. Very surprised to see 3 other windsurfers out today. Ed of course, tweaking a new sail and 2 others. A very nice change to sailing most of the winter by myself. LI - SE 20kt/G25kt. Tomorrow looks good too.
Trojan (8394km): Blacks Beach, QLD, AU High tide got rained out so squeezed in a late afternoon low tide session in the waves of Blacks beach. Great spot, but very challenging to go fast with wave faces up to chest height. Had to pull up short with minor gear failure. Fox 105, 6.5 Ezzy. Must bring back a FSW and concentrate on Jumping when my knees and back aren't so fragile..
Eddy (24342km): Port Douglas, QLD, AU..yeah got a couple of hrs on the water this arvo with the crew..Sailed with Mark gustfront who is a very good sailor from Sydney.. But he had to race home a bit early.. My other mate Mark who is back after long break my mate Rick and out special guest Benny who came up from cairns too show us how it its done on his go fast gear..Wasn't sure what to rig today as wind was a bit up and down..So decided to' road test' my new 7m NCX ,my last one died a while back and went to heaven..Most people get excited about new sails but for me it is a very frustrating time..You have to put in effort to make friends with it and spend time dialing them in,i don't seem to have the paitents for it..But today i decided to be nice and just spent a bit of time tuning it up, and it didn't turn out' to bad ' And at the end of the day we were friends...Everyone had a good session and the boys were hard to catch.. 120 fox did a good job with new sail, but the Slalom boards were a bit faster as the sea wasn't very rough..Rick and Benny never put a foot wrong so i am not sure who gets man of the match..guess it was worth rigging up for..Cheers Ed..
Benny McCarthy (15191km): Port Douglas, Four Mile Beach, QLD, AU Made the effort to do the scenic drive from Cairns for a fun sesh with the latte lads. Both Mark's looked to be enjoying themselves, Andrew did a few laps before heading in early. Ed made friends with his new sail & Rick sailed really well today- constantly improving with a "man of the match" performance! Ended up all good fun. Was nice to be able to get a few k's in on the water after a distinct lack of wind over the past few weeks in Far North Tropical QLD Paradise. Maybe more tomorrow Used the Jag 125, Severne 7.8 OD M2, Tribal 38 "Long May our Big Jibs Draw!" |
