Slowboat (51060km):

Was a bit of a dredgy NWer when I got there so faffed about then finally rigged the 8.7m on 135 with 42MK2. First few runs were OK with one nice gust for a 35 on the dial. Wind faded for a bit then the front came though and it got a bit interesting. Watched the GPS on one quite lit run showing 38 as I went for it but I sailed out the front of the gust. Looks like it was 35 and I need to check my eyes, since there no hint of peaks that fast on the track for that run. Then it booted in proper. Next run was the actual fastest run for the day heading back to carpark. Had a couple of survival runs before getting backslammed. I guess 30kts+ was a bit much for that rig. Rain persisted, and I eventually chicken ran downwind back to the carpark, rigged 7m on the 53 Rapid to see how it handled westerly chop- Took off and ran along the shore to Majestic point, where the wind switched off. Uh oh. Waited a few minutes for a gust and made it back to the northern end of the windsurf area before the wind swung WSW and booted again. Tacked back and tried one more run as the wind clocked to SW- straight into gnarly westerly chop. Gybed and headed back. Wind by then was going more SW so was a real pinch so just made it before it shut down. Last summer beer with Anthony in the rain... no it aint summer any more
