yeeehar... finally some wind! 5.7m Tribal Rapid 53, Tribal 23 mk2 G10 Asy.
Dawn patrol... Rigged the 6.3m thinking it wasn't going to boot... Then it booted so I changed down before getting into my wetsuit. Wind shut down as the other guys reached the pond. Walked in with Richo, and a few 20kt gusts came through just enough to get upwind and wait... Wind was a good direction when the first squall came through, but I waited for it to properly boot- by then it had swung more south making the run a bit too square. Fastest run was up the top doing a slingshot off the bank. Sailing back was easy because you could hug the bank all the way. Managed a couple of good runs before it died.... and we waited... and waited... getting cold... Richo and Boz started walking out as another squall came through- very square so it was hard to get a fast run. Tried a few but arms were done (and it was cold) so decided to quit before the wind died again- managed with Mark to rip through the channel back to the car in one go which is always a win. And the wind died just then so was perfect timing. So basically we got 2 gusts in a couple of hours standing around! Welcome to the chook pond
Good company, lots of standing around- no wind between the squalls. Wind was forecast to fade, we derigged, and Scott rolled up- bringing with him the best and steadiest wind of the day! Hope he got some runs (albeit solo). Good times... stoked.
