Corpus Christy, JFK Causeway. W54, RB 5.0, SD 19. Barely had the energy to rig and walk out past the shipping channel, but things got better at speed. Great to have Al and Dennis join us today.

Corpus Christi, Grassy Point from JFK Causeway. Hoped for some flatter water near the bridge, but did not find any. Instead, chop was just as high but more chaotic than further down towards the usual launch (the marina). The only piece of gear I was happy with today was the filleted Speed Demon 23. The FF 89 was a bit too small for the frequent lulls, and starting it was a PITA 8 of 10 times. The 5.6 had plenty of power in the big gusts, but was too small in the lulls. Top speed in a rain squall where it was impossible to see the chop. But it was nice to be on the water with Al, Dennis, and Nina. Now if we only could get Al to charge his loggers, and Dennis (who had the top speed of the day on his watch) to join the team.
