5kts SW Grant st Coal Point, NSW, AU

 7.2m moto - 125ltre Tabou - 38cms tectonics weedy

I wasn't going to post but I need to vent..Yell

It was blowing 15-18kts plus when I 1st got there so rigged the 6.5m Turbo - WT64 and of course it then dropped to 5-12kts .  It was still gusting to 18kts occasionally so I was too chicken to rig the 7.5m.

Rigged the 7.2m on the big board. As soon as I hit the water it turned Sw and died..It was tricky getting started. I had to be really quick uphauling to get clear of the jetty . It was then a slog across to the sand islands where there was 5kts of wind and it was a bit flatter so I could risk gybing..

Came in at Coal and walked back to the car.

The annoying thing was it could have been great if I'd just rigged big and got out there..I didn't trust it though..Grr

Even Susie was struggling with the wing.

Karuah, NSW, AU. JP SLW, 7.5, 47cm. 1st try at a new spot.
I went there the other day, got in the gate, rigged, and the wind stopped. Today, same thing, wind stopped as clouds moved in, but then it came back.
So i decided to atleast get in and try the launch.
Negotiated the baths no worries, actually she was straight up onto the plane out and also back in to my delight.
Not the ideal direction to get up closer to the Islands of interest at the river mouth for a look, but I suspect there is much oyster racks there. Hope to find out soon.

Out near snapper island and the wind kicked a bit, quickly the big gear which was great in light wind was about to become a handful. I applied the brakes, aborted speed mission and headed upwind.

Good work trying a new spot Dave.  Watch out for oysters around those baths - one of my kids cut his foot pretty badly there one year at camp.

Thanks James. I like the rush of trying a new spot. Alone it is risky but exciting.
I had the booties on. Yes, many oysters there.
