Sail no 1

The Spit  Lake George 15 - 22 kts odd SE then 15 - 24kts plus S

6.2m M2OD- RS 2 ( 90ltre) - 21.5cm FF ( cutdown 24) for a few runs

then

WT57 (90ltres) - 4.5m Blade - 24cm WT weedy

I wanted to get out before it got ballistic. Out about 8.30am. Ok on the slalom board for a few runs but no flatwater and I was getting very overpowered so changed to the freerace / freeride gear.

Got the alpha at the start. Good speeds for me on the WT.

Much more fun on the WT. I was the only one out so I was super careful.

I was stopping to check depth at the N end and my adjustable outhaul kept loosening so I'd fix that.

Very tiring. Had to kneel and do sail adjustments then waterstart in the 30cms of water over several feet of mud.

Tiring launching too. 150m odd of hard dry mud, 10m shallow ok then 50m of sucking knee deep mud to try and get fin depth and start.Frown

Came in and walked the slalom gear behind the trees , re-rigged the freeride and back out..zz,

Few fun bearaways. C 20 - 30cms choppy bit , 15cms moguls and not really any flat.

I got a planing gybe on the WT! Tongue out Much easier in 15 - 20cms chop. I  flipped earlier too.

Underdone with the 4.5m at 1st. Only good in the gusts but by the end it was full on flying through the chop with the sail pulled down over me..

Mission achieved- I stayed safe and had fun.

Hopefully there will be others to follow around next sail.

All sorts of muscles complaining about floundering in the mud. Lucky I'm sailing fit atm..zzz Undecided

Thanks Dave. When I 1st went out. It was stronger later.

Looks like I need to get much lower in the bay to get flatwater. I'll follow someone next time.

I put a marker in at the launch but stay 100m further out. It's in too shallow.

Good one Sue. A good first sail on what sounds like not an easy day.
