sboardcrazy (27969km): ![]() 1st session solo 5-15kts SSW - 7.5m Turbo - Rs4 ( 111ltres) - 21.5cms FF ( cutdown 24cms. ) I usually use the 24cms in that combo. then 2nd session with Mike 12 - 17kts SSW - 6.5m Turbo - Rs2 ( 90ltres) - 16.5cms Pepe test Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU Sailed 10.30 - 1.10pm with rig change- 1.40hr moving time Solo sesssion when I 1st got there. Took the big gear out and worked up to the pole. Saw a 60cms ( body) stingray in the chop upwind. A white bellied sea Eagle was sitting on the pole and not at all worried about me. Not enough to bear off , and I was being cautious not to lose too much ground and get too shallow. Figured out a few things I'm doing wrong with the gybes..I was feeling tired and decided to go in. It kicked in as I went in I was super powered on the 7.5m..gybes were a bit on the edge. I'll be glad when the deckgrip is fixed..slippery atm. Mike arrived and went out on his 6.3m - 90 and got the best wind. I rerigged the smaller combo and went out to test the Pepe. I had it made a few years ago hoping to be able to hold larger sails on the 90ltre. I usually run the 22cm Atomic and I can't enjoy the flats atm as they are too shallow for the 22cms. A few years ago I had a big spinout in the channel when I pushed too hard and couldn't get it back . Since then I've been avoiding using it . I was underdone and not powered enough for a decent bearaway but it went well. I was careful to not use much backfoot pressure. It was nice to be able to go into the flats and even gybe in the shallows. Happy. That should open the flats for me. I usually use the 80 ltre 16.5 cm FF but that's too small when it's patchy.. Grr only time I fell in was 10m from the shore at the end.. brr I don't mind a nice placid sail like this.. At least I got to gybe a bit and play in the flats. | ||||||||||||||||||
