Gusty crap wind today, sailed on the 6.6 KA Koncept Venom 34 and Starboard 86 went down at 12 till 2 and that wind just had not made it in yet it would look good and drop out within no time at all. I love winter sailingCry it was ment to be up to 30????

Peter Freeman and Steve and Kazza joined me later I hope they get some wind, I think it should come in now that I am home.

Cold on the hands as wellSurprised

Pray for a better sail tomorrow, hope the Montagu boys are going well

Cheers Russ

The new sail was amazing, light, full of grunt, easy to control in the gusts and kept planing in the lulls.Smile And love the go fast colours. Now just have to get the Venom so I can get the Isonic out.

Extremely cold but worth going out to give the new sail a run.

Gusty crap. The forecast was awesome 25-35 knots but it just didnt happen. Russ you didnt miss anything. Kaz you looked really fast and glad you liked the new sail. Isonic 86, 32cm C3 Venom and 6.2 Reflex.

Went up to Montagu with a lot of the team including some of the Hobart guys but after the go we had today I dont think they will be back. The wind was vey square on the run, with a nasty following swell /chop and only a couple of times it swung enough and flattened out. Second go on the new board and maybe a bit small for me today.

Well done today Izaak

Wind ranged from maybe 15 to 35 knts

went up to Montagu on a good forecast but didnt really come around to the direction we wanted. Most off the time good wind but it was running straight down the run.Due to that there was very very nasty chop so thats why i had a big drop on what i had on the dial (42.02).Then to top it off, ran out of wind and had a 2km walk back in waiste deep water. If it swung South West we could of had some magic numbers today.

One of my least favoured days sailing. Wont be back to Montagu, unfortunately.  Went out early to try and get some km's up, the place was pretty messy until low tide, by that stage I couldn't be botherd to get the speed gear as it was taking guys an hour or more to get back upwind to the run. Managed to hit a weed bed which resulted in crack to nose of wifes new board, broken rope on boom head and creases on the new 5,7. Bugga!

Montagu!  Left at 5am, got there by around 11am, rigged 6.2 and 5.6 Reflex with iSonic 86 and W49.  Went to go out on the 86 and 6.2 and just about got blown away walking to the water, so swapped that gear for the W49 and 5.6.  Wind was OK, but had to tack back and fourth across the channel to get 2 km upwind to the run in an outgoing strong tide for over an hour and a half with a weight jacket on (exhausted).  Then found the wind to be too parallel with the run and way too choppy (dangerous)!  The rain squalls would pick up the chop and the wind was really broad.  The lighter winds after the squalls would swing a little to allow more comfortable 34-35 knot runs down the bar, but felt like only just enough wind to get planing at the start of these runs.  Quite shallow in places and not a particularly straight run (very similar to the northern run at Sandy Point).  Eight of us out there, which was pretty amazing (in the middle of nowhere).  An oyster farming boat went by and I'm sure got a laugh out of seeing us there!

Izaak had already done a couple of over 40 knot runs when I saw him coming into the run in really windy conditions, almost heading directly at the sand bar the wind was so broad, and he beared away just in time in an absolute 'no turning back' manoeuvre and headed down the bar in chop at full speed - very gutsy effort!!  Well done Izaak!

Nothing easy about today.   Choppy, broad and difficult conditions.  The wind was certainly strong in the squalls (30+).  Luckily we all made it back.  In hindsight, I wouldn't take a sinky speed board out there again (nor a weight jacket).

Made it home safe Russ, but struggled big time in those conditions. New board out for the first time, not the conditions to dial it in.

GPS is in the car, will post the poor results tomorrow.
