Pt walter, 5.5m E3, Mistral '13 112L and Cl29 fin. Unreal combo for mental chop. Had a feeling the medium board would be insane in 30kt gusts and wild open water chop, when used with a small sail and fin. I figured with the wind being very gusty the non-planing periods would not be spent underwater. Stoked to get a 39 on the dial in some pretty nasty chop near Dalkieth in the ferry channel. Was less windy than I thought so was underpowered a lot of the time, but it was sweet in the gusts. Bring on winter! Good fun saiing with Shane and Jonah till after sunset (hoping for the WSW change to pick up).

Melville Beach, WA, AU

quick sail after a day i would rather forget..

hoped a sail would clear my mind, but just didnt have the heart for it.

managed to pick up weed on most runs..the long strand reed things that had the fin

humming like a tuning fork. Also managed to pick up a chip packet at one stage in the melville

rubbish tip. the hi tides seem to be dragging all the crap off the banks.

Although i have had the combo for some time now im really not used to sailing it as it only comes out

3 or 4 times a year now. .

you have no idea how impressive those speeds are by chris, jj

the waves in the river were insane and the tide was so high there wasn't even any point hiding around the edges of the river or on backs cause the chop was everywhere

thanks guys, I was buzzing after that one. Felt a bit like my 100m GPS record in terms of adrenaline. Got a bunch of 38s in various places. I think the water at Pt walter is much flatter than Melville in a storm surge, high tide WNWer. The jetty would have had waves breaking over it with a bit more wind.

the speed strip :)

Awesome effort, Mr Boat!Surprised

You would have liked Bendyland late in the day. I was maxed out on the 5m with weight at times! Real wind!

Mike I got heatstroke in that thing with a 3/2 wettie. Thats what I used to wear in 8degC/30kts with hail. I thought it was going to get cold with more wind that didnt happen. Still buzzing. Thats the big board you tried at clearwater.
