Great way to shake off the night shift hangover. Was pretty buggered after only a couple hours sleep so I didn't really have the mojo to go for big speeds but I had a blast anyway. Wind was really kicking in when I left but was super gusty after it turned west.

Need sleep now

Safety Bay, WA, AU

Mega session with Norts and Slowy - Slowy giving a master class in the maxed-out wind - a solid 30 to 35 knots.

Too much wind and a bit too west meant I didn't get any settled long runs.

Also had a bit of a crash-fest today, hitting the bottom a few times at full speed and probably another dozen gumby crashes after being lifted out the water in the fierce gusts. Good challenge though...

Wallyworld after the W word and Scott Nomates!

I was hoping for a SW change and a storm surge but neither happened.

Rocks were out at the bottom of the bar and you could see the glassy patches contrasting with the shifting bullets.

Really hard trying to do short runs desperately trying to get settled and being hit by big destabilising gusts.

37 on the dial early on Lurch but spent more time in the water than on it.

Switched to the 90 and got a 36.

Wind got a bit more steady so switched back. Couldn't get in to the flattest parts as the tide was too low. Best wind was down in the rock field.

Just could not line up a decent run in to a good gust. Most runs coming back down the bar.

Best run was further back towards the jetty. Decent speed but there was more out there!

One of the gustiest Wallyworld sessions I have had.

Second outing on the MXR fin. Definitely solid even through nasty chop and heavy gust hits.

LB 6.3, Lurch/ MXR 22, is90 / choco27 weedy.

Melville Beach, WA, AU 5.8Koncept, 85 Sonic, 28 vector

I have definitely lost my fitness, my technique and my confidence and today was not the day to get it back!

Thought I'd stick to the river as everywhere else was too windy. Still have a sore shoulder so rigged small to take it easy. Then the wind died before I even got on the water. I hung around getting cold waiting for it to fill in again but it didn't. It was too cold to just bob around so I changed up to my 5.7. Just as I got on the water the wind came back with a vengeance. 25 - 35 knots in squalls, but more up than down. I thought I managed quite well considering my lack of sailing lately but the confidence was well down. I think it will be a while before I am doing any speed sailing, although I think the speed board would have been easier to handle today. Hit a bumpy patch on my way back to the beach (on what was going to be my last run anyway) and was catapulted heavily into the sail. I think I have just undone 6 weeks of physiotherapy. Cry

Melville Beach, WA, AU. 5.8 Koncept. Bit of fun with the sonic 95. Nice to catch up with a few people and have a chat. Wind very gusty at times and non existent at others.

Melville Beach, WA, AU It was wild with my oversized 6.5 but I managed to hold on to it most of the time.

Very impressive numbers guys, you put me to shame.

I have a lot of catching up to do.

Australind sounds like it was really good JJ..., though with 39 knots you haven't left much room for improvement.

Hope the should isnt badly damage windxtasy. I did notice that only once you swapped the rigs did the wind kick in again !

Well done on those speeds guys, that was a challenging day alright !

The shoulder doesn't feel too bad but I think I have a good case of whiplash.

Not a good reintroduction. I would have got smashed with a 5.7m in that wind and I weigh more than you!

The reason I go out every week in any kind of wind is to keep my sailing fitness and hand in as I find with my neck it's too painful getting it back.I hate catapult whiplashes..You don't realise how fast your going till you come off.

Hope Your ok Anita, I saw you go down but didn't think it Looked that bad! Although those falling into the rig awkwardly falls can be deceptive. Hopefully a week of doldrums will help the healing.
