Stansbury, SA, AU North 20-40 knots

SXs 90, GPS 5.5, BP 23.5 weedy

Got there early at 8 . Headed out with the 5.5 and struggled to get going. Was waiting for the build up but it was BAM!  Was too much for me and waited for the wind to moderate a bit. Then sailed in and sat on the grass with Tricky and downed a beer thinking the day was over. The new plan was to wait for the spit and the wind to drop a bit so we waited. Then out of the corner of my eye i spotted something strange. A windsurfing sail popped up down by the boat ramp and a guy on a Pink Bombora South Pacific proceeded to try and sail in 40 knots.( this is the model with the centreboard). So i looked at Tricky and he at me and we put down our beers and declared  that we cant have that. Out we went for a solid sail on the flat in very strong wind and came in well pleased with our efforts. So the moral of the story is if you see a pink elephant or pink south pac, head back out and something special might happen!

CheersSmile

Epic Wind & Epic dissapointment...........................

Arrived to see Hoppy dogging along of his 5.5 so I rigged the 5.8 & hoped that it would be big enought even with a 30knt forcast it looked like it was NOT going to deliver. Smashed out  a solid half hour then bam oodles of wind knocked out a couple of solid 34's on the screen but could not hold the 5.8 down & lock it in, I started to get a absolute flogging and as Hoppy was getting a light battering we decided to head in & see what was to come. Hoppy stayed out for a couple of more runs. It looked to back off a bit so I down sized the 28Lessaches Duo Speed Weed to the 24. Hoppy arrived back in just as some nasty bullets ripped spray every were. Hoppy decided that as it was so hot a cold beer was in order. Half way downing the beer a dude on a old South Pac went blasting accross the bay. That made Hoppy & I arc up ! the wind seemed to back off a bit & as I had allready rigged the 5.2 seemed like a good a reason as any to get it wet for another session. Was sailing on the edge most of the time but did one hell scary bearaway in the chop for a 41.61 on the dial Surprised  After a few runs I started to flag as fighiting with the 5.8 eariler must have  worn me outFrown With the great peak on the screen I headded in pleased with myself & pulling of a crashless day in such testing conditions. The Epic dissapoitment 33.31 2sec dont know what happened to my mid 34's let alone my epic 41.61Cry

Thanks Jeff for the coldiesSmile

On the way home from goerge me and carl stopped in at boggy for a sail. Was insane wind. When I finally got enough balls to head out it was too much could not bare away or do anything. Me and carl sailed while others watched then went home with no sail. Hard work but a fun experience. Prob the windiest I have ever sailed at bog. Hoĺly shit mate.

Boggy Lake, SA, AU

Last day of lake George weekend. Sam and me decided to make the trek early back to boggy to make the trip home more enjoyable. Arrived there to see 40 + knot winds and like last week Leon headed up the top of lake with the wind cranking to mid 40's and had to walk back to shore.

30 - 35 with some 40+ bullets and smoking sheets of water over the whole lake.  Like Sam said windiest sail at Boggy lake.  Great way to finish long weekend.  Thanks for the laughs Sam and taking me down and Yetti and Nicola for the great hospitalithy over the weekend Smile

Patrik 87 / 5.5m Hot sails GPS and S07 29 fin.

Ps the Patrik rocks in psycho conditions 😄

Got to bog about twelve and we all sat one the shore and watched huge gusts rip through.  People tried but just got sent back to shore quickly.  The water had been pushed right back from shore and it was amazingly shallow for quite some way.  Once on the far side we saw what looked like a water spout trying to form.  In the late afternoon Leon tried it out on a 4.5m.  By the time he got to the western reed back (in one tack!) the wind had once again whipped into a frenzy (probably the most serious gusts of the day) and he was forced to walk home.

By about four it was clear it wasn't going to abate and so I slunk home dry and depressed, just as Sam struck out on a 5.1(!) and Carl not long after.  You guys seem to be cranking up the top as I was going, and it even felt like it might be dropping out a touch, but it had done that countless times throughout the day.  It's rare to see absolutley stompin' northerlies like that at Bog, let alone twice in ten days.

Anyway, nuff moaning.  Good to see some people got on the water - sounds like I should've brought my bomby out of retirement!
