its been a long time between sails, so good to get out. Rat was out too and smoking me with his i107. Not wanting to be outdone i wiled myself into thinking there was enough for the CA52. Got it going...just...wasnt going any faster. Such a nice board to sail though, even when underdone.  wind died soon after

Another fun Liptons sail with the usual crew, including Firie, sort of on his way East.

Tide was highish, no real smoooth but plenty of flat in the Pt Grey shallows.

Wind seemed to settle in after a while so I tried Salty and Strops hour course, was going quite well but 3/4hr in wind dropped off and I had trouble getting planing out of the gybes.

Had a 24kt alpha at 53mCry

Gave the 19cm 55deg weedy a touch up yesterday, and I think it's improved it. Had it plugged into the 48cm board with the trusty 5.8koncept. It had stacks of lift in the smooth, and coped very well with the chop in the channel, lost traction once or twice when I lost concentration, but it comes right back in almost by itself.

Must put some fuel in this body, if anything else occurs to me I'll add it later.

Peel Inlet, WA, AU

It's been a month since I last sailed and I got to say I really enjoyed myself even though the wind was very up and down and all around, very wierd indeed. My set up felt sweet, the only thing that might hold me back is the pilot. First time I have used my Tribal, I'm not a techno sailor but have to say it felt real nice, never spun out, board rode nice, high and level, felt very nice off the wind and hey I have heard the term slippery before and that's how this fin felt.

Was nice to sail with and catch up with a few today, beer after was good but I ended up with the shakes, thanks Salty for the jacket mate. And Wazza mate, your beer's still in the fridge Laughing

To quote Herb, life's good and as a Fang day it was a 11 Cool Tomorrow it's a Blue Bay day for me, need my ocean fix Wink

Carbon Art SL58, 27 Tribal Weedspeed, 6.6 KA Koncept and of course boardies.

Peel Inlet, WA, AU Waihau 90l, Ezzy Lion 6.5m2, Choco 26 Weedy

I was first on deck at Liptons so decided to make use of the amenities prior to hitting the water. A sphincter-tightening moment when I found both booths ( or is it stalls?) were "closed due to vandalism". I'm pretty damn sure that they were completely kitted out with stainless pan and basin so maybe someone has gone in there with a TIG welder? Maybe a particularly corrosive, and appropriately named, Vindaloo? Annnnyway.....after a while The Capt'n arrives, followed by Fin, Hards, YoYo, SaltyNutz and , latterly, FirieBob. A quick headcount shows the the work output of Western Australia has not been affected one iota by our presence at Liptons so it seemed appropriate to hit the water. The Capt'n stuck his index finger in the air and announced "12kts average, gusting to 17 knots". Ok. That'll work, so I am the first one to hit the water and I scooted over the channel to the banks at Point Grey. Nice there, enough water to let me get over the banks and a great downwind run for some speed. Was joined bit by bit by the Mobsters which was nice. Not so nice, however,  was the front of YoYo's board which had recent surgery covered over by what appeared to be a gutted boogie board. Stuck on the front. Maybe he rear-ended it at speed. Noice.  The wind was full of holes and there seemed to be the occasional vacuum between the channel markers but everyone was blasting around. I really should have rigged bigger ....woulda, shoulda, coulda...you know how it goes.  Hard work getting back to Liptons but guided all the way by the resident noisy sing-song kiter....I followed the glint of his fluoro board shorts. Stroppo was rigged and ready to go for a late arvo blast just as things started to pick up a bit. Great fun afternoon.

Princess Royal Harbour, WA, AU

Tabou 3S 96l, Ezzy Cheetah 6.5m, Maui Ultra Weed 28cm

Quick pre nightshift sail down the other end of the harbour.

Wind SW anything from about 5-20knots, always a gusty wind & I would have liked a bit more of a Westerly to try & do longer runs along the bank. There weed bank flattens the water out a bit but not to the same degree as down the other end & once you get away from the weed sand divide your into choppy water. It's also not as nice an area to rig up on, no grass except for the sea variety & if you want to shelter or rig out of the wind you pretty much have to go to the side of the road.

Ended up doing a few runs along the bank & then practising going upwind to get back. No huge speed but still enjoyed myself.

Only 7 hours to go....

Bragging rights Bob and good to hear the Tribals performed (as expected).  Just put an order in for a couple more after today's mishap.

Great numbers Firie.....you were generating mucho pace out there and not stalling like the rest of us. Probably the sleek streamlined torso adding an extra knot or two. Sorry about the beer! I had a swag full ready for you but you sailed a million miles....I'll catch up Thursday.

Spot on with the wind Skipper ....you have a precision finger.

Missed you out there Fangy....no-one had anything like the F2 Xandross out there today. Strictly 2.6m or less. Also, and I never thought I'd say this, I'm missing the reality TV and the raving roving reporter.Surprised

Hi Firie, I think it was in NNW direction....the Coopers Compass was inoperative. I was just trying a jump tack and things got away from me a bit.Innocent

ahh, now I read the question properly and " I think I got it about half way through the session. Going nicely downwind and got a boot up de bum.
