Thought it was about time for a Glory holes session, predicted water level looked close to ideal with around 20kt winds forecast. Arrived to see slugger flying around, in moderate winds.

But while having lunch wind dropped a bit, so rigged the 6.6 and plugged into the 53 with the 21cm 55deg deltoid. This combo worked well, only spun out once when I pushed a bit too hard in chop, so my mods must have done some good.

Got totally overpowered in a big squall, so went in and rigged the 5.4, plugged that into the 48 with the 23cm 30deg fin. This of course led to the wind shutting off completely for over half an hour! When enough wind returned to get going with it, it worked OK until I slowed down. Then the weed I hadn't seen much sign of earlier became apparent. I should have gone with a 45deg weedy!

Nice to sail with the Bunno crew for a change, just have to work out how to have the optimum rig on the water, when the best conditions materialise.

Above figures are from the GW52, below is what the GT31 came up with.

Shoal Bay, Princess Royal Harbour, WA, AU

Loft Sails Switchblade 6.8m, Tabou 3s 96l, Maui Ultra Weed 28cm & then Sonic 56w, KA 26cm/40

Started off with the Tabou as it was a bit patchy & bumpy due to the tide being up a bit.

Changed to the Sonic when the wind looked like it was starting to pick up & decided to try the KA 26cm/40 I picked up from Tomski as the weed wasn't that heavy. Had a few decent runs with one NM where the wind stayed in for most of it, maybe a PB? Another light patch where I nearly gave up but it came back in just in time.

Went out to the bank as the tide was now dropping & I could find a bit of flat to try a few Alphas, was struggling couldn't work out what I angle I needed to go back on & always felt like I was pinching. Finally managed to get a half decent one just before I called it quits. Too pooped to go for the Ton. Besides had Sunday roast to head off for.

Not a bad day sailing at all but a lot harder work than sailing in the Easterly. Very happy with the fin overall, picked up a couple ofclumps right towards the end of the session but tide was getting well down by that stage.

Cheers

Glory Holes, Australind, WA, AU .  an up and down day, but a good roll up, sailing with Decrepid, Rat, Slugger, Stroppo and Shano

Started with Falcon113/FW7.0/Delta24, got 34kts with that. Wind got stronger, so pulled out the CA52 and got my peak with that.  It was looking like getting stronger, so we all changed down, I put on a 5.8, but the wind never really came back out properly.

All the same a good arvo out with like-minded nutters! Cool

Mike, I drove off with my gps on. I had to export to GPX to trim the road section off, but its now showing as trackpoint. I'll send the files to you to check if you dont mind.

EDIT Mike here, just checked doppler results with GPSarPro.

2s 37.03, 5x10 33.82, 1hr 11.73, @ 18.42, NM 28.66, distance 53.46.

Unfortunately GPSResults doesn't like the gaps in the Canmore data, that's why some of the results I got from Stretch's file are a bit lower or missing. I'f I get the chance and remember I'll try realspeed and or gpsarpro.

Thanks all, PB's are easier to come by when you are starting from such a low base Embarassed

Should have stuck it out for the extra 10kms though, would have got us a few extra points.
