Andrew Haigh (48982km): Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU Normal story forecast 20-30, actual 5-15. Hung around in the rain in the morning with a few other desperados. Then around lunch time we get an hour or so of 12-15 kt wind. Had a go on Tibors board with one of the new Delta Xts in it. He was using a 16cm with a 7.0m sail. The fin was easy to get planing and had a LOT more grip than a traditional delta. Would be interesting to try one on a day that we actually get some wind.

sboardcrazy (24418km): 5-8kts SW - SSW then 3/4hr 15-18kts then 5-8kts Buff Pt Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU 7m OD - 89ltre falcon - 18cm delta Another fizzer A lot of sitting and floating around for a short decent session. Still the short patch of planing was fun although I wasted the best wind working upwind... Glassy flat but the weed is VERY thick. I'm sure it knocks some speed off because it felt faster than 27kts.. Wore the winter wettie and over heated. Fitness has dropped as I wore out pretty quickly once it came in. Hard to gybe in close as too shallow. Andrew , Tibor and me. Gareth came out for one of the dud sessions..( 2 duds - 1 good)
Tibor (17557km): Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU what a pleasant surprise! planning at last! Had a great hour at Buffie with Andrew and Sue.. Garreth was too late to come out. When the wind went down l came in for lunch. After that we were just waiting for the wind that came in at last but not as good as earlier. Still l had the best time in weeks. Interesting, l tried a new Delta 16 in my 58 wide old sonic and amazingly it worked. l have even gone in to a bit of rough yet it held fine. Pleasant surprise as one needs these shallow fins here nowdays. I wouldnt want anything deeper. See how we go tomorrow???? Used the 7m on the 58 wide Sonic. One more thing, interestingly the GW60 shoed me 32.8.something yet as you see i got only 30.4 ???? dissapointing!..but not the end of the world!
Bostonfoil (17127km): Belmont Bay (Slipways), NSW, AU Falcon 113 KAR 7.9/7.1 Venom 38 What a disappointment. Was totally overpowered on the poorly tuned 7.9 for 20mins initially before changing down to the 7.1 just as the breeze dropped down and pretty much stayed down for the rest of the day. Probably spent 3.5 hrs on the water for my 44kms.
Byron Mcilveen (63644km): Wangi Dobel park, NSW, AU S2 venom 7.7, exocet RS4, select Vmax 39. Finaly a sail its been sooooo long but it was shit wind and very quick in the end as came in enough to sail with 40 min before I had to go to work. still it was good to put the foot down in chop just not enough wind and looks like nothing for another few weeks. |
