Got smashed didn't I. Arrived a bit late after a busy shift at work to find Shane T and Tricky sailing well in the gusty conditions. Had lunch on the foreshore, a mars bar and can of coke, whilst chatting to Nicola and Gordy. Shane and Tricky came in and where finished sailing and Shane sold me his nice Choco 24 weedy, thanks Shane. I headed out confident of beating Tricky's 36+ effort ( Great effort Tricky) and worked my way over to the take of zone closer to the rock groyne, to get the right angle out. Flipping the sail the 35+ knot gust ripped the gear away from me , sending it up into the air. 2 and a half summersaults and landed 25 meters away down wind from me. I have never seen that in all my years windsurfing. Wow, i thought that was impressive, and then i realised i was about to lose all my gear. I tried to catch up but it was moving away, so then i started crawling and swimming after it and lucky for me it slowed down on the shallow spit and i got it. I made my mind up to callit quits after that, straight offshore gusting to mid 30 and if that happened off the back then its goodby complete rig. Just not worth it t5o lose the gear. So i came in and Trick carried my board back to base, Thanks buddy. and gave me a beer to drown my sorrow. Still, the guys had a good sail and i think will post some good numbers
Cheers
Enduring sailer from the south.
