Fun run at Wanda with Jules!

Note, 1m waves are not great on a slalom board, sub-planning. I still got launched skyward, but only had the front foot in the strap at takeoff, which didn't last! I looked down at my feet, hovering over the board mid-decent... and landed perfectly, to sail away. Phew. Avoided a pending disaster right in the impact zone!!

We sailed all the way upwind to the reef, in 7.0 weather... sometimes stronger, often patchy. ... especially up the north end where it felt like an offshore westerly. A few good downwind blasts on the way upwind, thankfully in hind-sight, as the wind died and we didn't get any good blasts on the whole trip back.

Then... slogging it downwind to the beach, a GIANT 1.5m-2m wave popped up behind me (with no wind) and PUMMELLED me ripping the sail from my hands... and the second wave slammed my board and rig again. By the 3rd wave I grabbed the mast tip and held it under, and the set was over... so I swam to shore and was amazed that not even a batten broke! Go the Maui Sails!!!

iSonic 90L, TRXi 7.0 and ERD carbon 37. Sweet setup.

Out in the ocean, a few blasts fully commited over the bumps and I got airbourne, didn't move a thing and just glided horizontally... felt beaut!

Up north the waves were less than a foot. 4WD would be nice, to avoid the waves.

Such clean water, and great views. The long run past the reef showed a great view of the heads and rock cliffs... As we packed up we saw a pod of dolphins.  Such a shame we werent in the water at the time! Only a little scary being so far offshore, but well worth it. And good to have a buddy for the ride.

Cronulla, NSW, AU. 107L isonic, 40cm fin, 7.0m Severne R8. Great session with Berowne out the back of Wanda, sailing upwind to the rockshelf off the point and picking up the occasional swell on th way back in. Beautiful crystal clear blue water! I think I was a bit tamer with my slalom gear than the Alpha Male who did a jump on the way out, both feet out of the straps landing back on the board, and then tried (unsuccessfully) to ride a monster wave back to the beach at the end of the session.

I can post some results from this watch, hooray.  Next time I'll try a different way to see if I can include Alpha as well.

Fun afternoon, very lucky to get a park without too much waiting.

Hi Erik, as per the emails the speed results have to be zeroed out as they have been recorded from a non approved GPS tracker. Hopefully distance can remain to record the session. Karl.
