JF (1703km): Peli... 6.8 Blade, CA SP60, Goldwing 33 cm
nebbian (8313km): Pinaroo testing fins. Loft Blade 6.8, iSonic 94, JP weedy 31 / Kai - Lockwood proto 34. I was well powered up in 20 knots, dealing with the waist high chop was... challenging... to say the least. The Lockwood fin beat the JP weedy by over a knot and a half. I didn't do enough runs to be completely sure, but it definitely feels faster. I would have been at Peli, but I forgot to pack the car this morning . Would have stayed out there longer but managed to sink the mast tip twice, with the associated difficulty waterstarting a luff sleeve that's totally full of water. I'm really going to have to sort this problem out, either get a new sail or get a sailmaker to fix it up.
Snake (23888km): Weird day out at Peli Point. Had my best speed across the wind and coming in, and best alpha was in the middle :-Z explain that! Used the 32 fin to start with but wind picked up enough to try out the 30 which felt a better match to the sail. A touch underdone most of the time on the 6.2 but still had a blast!!!! Was nice to have a sail after a few muggy days though and had a few races with some of the usual crew. Sonic 85, RS6 6.2, Goldwing 32/30
lao shi (41082km): Made the trip from Mosman Park to Pt W. Promised a lot but should have used a bigger fin. Got quite busy. Good to see FNQ mob as well as the usual crew. Sorry Pointman on getting your hopes up and having the usual cheesegraters experience.
Pointman (25655km): Pt Walter, SSW 0 - 22K. Had a good sesh at Pt Wally (Dont't worry Mark the Cheese grater was quite mild today ). Hell gusty, with some massive holes, but also some solid gusts around 22-23K (Reading the other posts it sounds like Pt Wally was the pick of the river spots today). Started out on the Manta 59 + 6.6 Koncept which was a tad ambitious for a heavyweight like me. After dogging around for half an hour swapped boards and grabbed the Gladiator 115, which was much more comfortable. Breeze seemed to get more consistent late and all my best speeds were after 7. Some nice squirts down the strip, and great gybing practice, although I typically fell into a hole every time I drilled a nice one, so no good Alpha's. Good to see quite a few crew out (met Stribo from the Southsiders). I was gonna go to Woodies today, and I think I probably should have, but enjoyed Pt Wally more than usual. I still reckon we should hit Woodies on days like today when the seabreeze is not at full strength on the river. The Garden Island graph (which is probably a little higher than Woodies, but not much) was around 22-26 today, a lot stronger than Melville water (I sailed there on 23/12/08 with a similar looking graph and scored a 36 peak and 34 5x10). Next time! |
