Choco (14568km): Manta 67 Blade 6.2 SL7 29cm Lake Bonney 10-22knts Sailed with a hangover today and 4 hours sleep (the dreaded N1 Vodka virus),wouldn't have gone out but seen Anthony sailing so got me keen, water and wind were all over the place and i was underpowered alot of the time which didn't bother me because i wasn't in the state to hold down a bigger rig still good fun.....i think i might go to bed and sleep now.
Hamma (12038km): CA 53,CL 28.5,RS 7.0 EVO 11 Lake Bonney.Very rough and wind shifting all over the place.First sail here in a while.I forgot what its like.
Chris Dimond (12355km): Murray Mouth First: iS101 / 6.6 Koncept / 38 Venom Then: iS122 / 7.5 Koncept / 46 Venom Later: Kode86 / 5.8 Koncept / 28 Maui Fin Co No Spin Bump'n'Jump Great session at the Murray Mouth. 101/6.6 combo felt great. The 2010 iS101 is a sweet ride indeed. Wind dropped out a little, grabbed the 122/7.5 combo and was loving it until the mast snapped. Long swim home. Wind kicked a little later, so I grabbed the Kode 86 with 5.8 Koncpet and the new bump'n'jump fin I've just received. GREAT set-up, but no speed machine. Awesomw fin and it just rockets upwind. Soooo much grip. A lot of fun though. I only had a couple of hours to sail today from the beach house (family duties), but man, I should have taken them later in the day. The breeze was honking during the arvo. Ahh..... Spring / Summer at the Murray Mouth...
Captain bogan (50569km): Bump and jump session at goolwa on slalom gear. Unexpected sail. Usually sail saturday's and after sailing yesterday i didn't think i would go. Woke up and called the station and it was saying 16 knot ave. Said to the wife why don't take the kids and have lunch at Rankine's and i will have a quick hour sail. I didn't get a NO! By 12pm i was told to pack the car and off we went. Fish for lunch and on the water by 2.45pm. The wind was a solid 18 - 23 with some 25 knot gust and the water was real choppy. Only able to do 900m runs. I managed to get an okay hour but felt a little fishy half way through after the fish for lunch and bouncing through the chop. It was a hard hour but great fun. The fanatic falcon 89, 5.8m koncept and c3 32cm venom are a great setup even in choppy conditions. Was tempted to do some bearaways during the hour but thought i would get as much sailing in as i could. Managed to get 1 hour 20 in before i was flagged to pack up. Home by 6.30 and everyone was happy. Great short session. Fanatic falcon 89 / 2009 5.8m koncept and 32cm c3 venom. Goolwa 18 - 25 knots - south east - choppy.
Bubs (476km): Well all up between the two of us (me and the old man) we wernt to great ha ha..... havent sailed in 6 months really, through the winter and moving house not being able to get to my gear at the back of the garage didn't help. First session back and it wasn't like we remembered it lol. We both packed up very quickly, need to thoughen up to it again... sail more often now. Great to see water back at goolwa anyway, was much choppier than what i've been used to there... got a bit soft with all the flat water last season, I used my trusty Starboard s-type 93L with my very nice 5.8m and 6.6m KA koncepts... Tried out the new 5.8 for the first time (bought it at the end of last season) and absolutely loved it... just want to get that 5.0 out now. Dad used his 158L JP Freeride with the same two sails... his decided he needs something a bit smaller now which is good... keep out eye out. Anyway all up i think we worked out we just need to get out more, both lost a lot of skill and even more fitness... The very cold weather there didn't help much either, but we'll get better ha ha.... Disapointing though because i was pulling my gyes round pretty consistently last season, didnt even get close yesterday. Cheers Hamish
