Snake (23888km): Sailed peli today, was going for some hangtime had quite a few nice runs up the top in the chop with Patrick. Glad to have the helmet on today ! Sonic 85, Ram 5.4, Goldwing 30
paddymac (10937km): Awesome fun down at Peli watching Snake screaming along and getting some great air . First time I've seen Jesper overpowered James Grinsmore was showing how it's done around the slalom course Got to love being able to get the 4.7 out! RRDFSW85, Session 4.7, JP24
lao shi (41082km): Shoulda gone to Peli slalom but couldn't resist the forecast for Woodies. Not too many kites. Although there were a few near misses. SRM showing how it is done with Recycle a poofteenth away from 40. Ado Whitey and 25 also out. Hit the wall at the low 36's with one good run at 37. Some great 10+ sec runs of 35+ and stoked to finally crack the 35 ave. Shoulda tried switching to the mach 1 choco. Had a 25 alpha at 75. Got to Peli just as everyone had packed up and good to catch up with lots of crew. Koncept 5.8 (not big enough?), *brd nonose, elmo wailing banshee 24cm weedy.
Chris Porter (11725km): Couldn't get comfy today... some excuses: Weed, over-powered, too light, over finned, choppy, wrong wind direction. Just wasn't my day. Should have joined Mark at Woodies by the look of it. Good to share some runs with Anika, Hardpole and Stribo CA SP47; Koncept 5.8; CL SL26cm
James Dinsmore (2794km): Maxxed out slalom at Pelican Point and a rare chance to get the 5.8m race sail out. Had a lot of fun duelling with Danny Aeberli in particular. JP V 60 NP RSR 5.8 JP 34. Thanks to the race team as always.
nebbian (8313km): Peli point slalom racing. iSonic 94, Loft Blade 5.6, MFC Weedy 29. So great to have my lovely iSo back under my feet! Highly recommend Steve Stratfold for repairs, there's no way you'd know the board had been in a bingle if you just looked at it. Finally I had some board speed again, not that it did me much good when it came to the start line... Whole afternoon was hampered by that F$%^&* slimline carbon boom, if I could find the guy who started the meme that slimline is more ergonomic I'd gladly beat him over the head with some bits of skinny carbon. My forearms were pumping up really badly, on the second downwind reach of all the races I was struggling to stay connected to the sail. The last race was three legs, I gave up after two because there's no way I would have made it back on the third leg. Hopefully pick up my 'fattened' boom from Paul at Hydrodynamix this week, and will say goodbye to pumped up forearms. It's OK if I'm just cruising along in light winds, but when maxed out madly sheeting in and out to stay in control, that boom diameter just doesn't work for me. Had a bit of an experience on one leg, coming up to the gybe mark there was a massive pleasure cruiser (30 foot? Big fecker anyway) that decided that he just had to hug the mark. There wasn't much room for me to go, I hit his wake going dead downwind in the middle of the gybe, which needless to say bounced me (and Bertie who was behind me) right off the water! After sailing my Ezzy Infinity for a while, going to the Loft Blade is a real retrograde step. I don't know if the mast isn't right for it, or if it's just a bit of a dog, but I'm quite sure that if I had an infinity in the same size as that Blade then I'd have been a heck of a lot more comfortable. Must check to see what sizes the infinity comes in... So good to be able to sail after work so often, WA rocks
Jeff (13640km): Decided it was too far to drive to woodies so tried Pt Walter instead. Good fun but just havent got it all together to go faster yet. More tuning / trial and error I think. Finally manage to get a 30 on my last run, maybe being so tired you can barely hang on helps ? 5.8 Koncept, sonic 95 and choco weed fin |
