Whitey (887km): Wallyworld with a heap of the crew - CA SP50, Koncept 5.8, Falcon 28.
Slowboat (49232km): wally world. Big turnout. Windy to start with- on 7.0m which was a bit big in the gusts so changed down to 6.2m. Got one sweet gust. Thought it was faster :) Not as windy as Saturday but water much flatter (and shallower). Loads of PBs today for the crew... where do we start? SP53, KA 23S. woohooo, now I can really say I hit a 45kt 2 sec. Goal for summer done.
Stringer (7685km): rsr7.0 ca44 and 23KA sym. farken GPS froze so lost data from first few hours of sailing! would have helped the 5 x 10 for sure - DOH! and maybe there was a better alpha to- argghh!! borrowed chris's spare gps and kindly broke it for him.. sory maaatte. also broke annikas gps case... nothaving a good time of it. Note to all- dont lend me stuff. ill break it! ...its like being a kid again out there!
Snides (28038km): hardies ca 40/rssmk2 5.4/drake weed 22
Craig Mann (896km): Quick blast after wk. Ado had talked up wally world after slowes efforts last week. Tabou 49 Ka 5.8 Falcon 26
Chris Adamson (14466km): Our mate the Freo Doctor has been in a ferocious mood lately, and today smashed through Perth bringing 30 knots even to Wallyworlld, which is half in a wind-shadow. It's 40-45 at Rotto as type this. It was great to see so many keen speedsters out on a Tuesday arvo too. With the trusty Manta 49 and KA/CL 23 fi I initially rigged the 6.3 but with a half-dodgy foot decided that it was all a bit hairy in the gusts, so wussed out and changed to the 5.7. Was underpowered 95% of the time but the gusts were LUUURRRVLEY, and the water pretty flat provided you were prepared to risk death in the perilously shallow depth. I have only had three 40+ peaks ever before and today had around ten 40's and three 41's - so pretty damned stoked about that. The only time I have gone faster is at Sandy Point, and that place is a picnic compared to Wallyworld! Congrats to the many PB getters, and massive respect yet again to the SLOW ONE. You remain so far ahead of the pack it's scarcely believable, and you just continue to amaze us all! Oh, nearly forgot; the day ended in a massive stack; spinout into instant crash...through sail...two holes in board...several holes in self. I will be sore tomorrow but I don't care!
Claude (28076km): Pt Walter , fun session with heaps of wind and lots of crew out enjoying the conditions. W49, 5.9CR, 23 SSWing.
Recycle (17196km): Wally world with the mobs good to see so many having a go. congrats to all pbers and snides in particular. sonicw52 rsr5.4 f126\custom23 weedy
25 (14457km): Second attempt to post - must have timed out. Got to Walter abt 5, rigged 5.7 Koncept 2010, CA SP47 with 26 Tectonic Falcon. Underdone at first - then the breeze booted up a bit as predicted. Whacked a rock with the fin and made it a 25 with a hairy tip. Was about to go in and change to the 28 but a big gust came through so I went for it and got a 42.6 on the display so I left the now 25 in and filed it down with swan river shells to make it as hydrodynamic as I could. Heavy traffic at Walter buit a good vibe - Slowey was masterful with his fancy sail with a hole in the clew! Well done to Elmo and Snides for theit efforts at hadies - well done - contemplated it it but opted for the 5 minute drive home! |
