Early session at the grand. Should have gone to manly or wello. The gold coast really is a crap place to sail, Southport, QLD, AU

Sailed at Thompsons in the shallow water just past the creek, great spot for speed just a small chop. Was good at about half tide maybe 1.2m. Would like to try this spot again maybe tomorrow if there is wind. Wind today was very on and off.

Wello for the 500m comp. Was pretty choppy and squally, really scary when going fast. Did 27.97 for the 500m. Got to try out my SX S today. Was abit under powered on the 5.8. Changed up to bigger kit for the 500m.

After 30 years of sailing, bought only my second non-pryde sail! Got a Loft- Blade and decided not to go in the speed comp while I tried the sail out for the first time. Beside would rather sail in nice flat water than bust my gut trying to go fast in the Wello chop.Smile

Wind was unpredictable but some good gusts to test the sail. The Blade was really stable and controlled in difficult conditions. Found it quite different to the Pryde but just as fast. Just wish I had the speed board out instead.

A quick session at thompsons beach waited for the right tide to sail over the mud banks but once it got good the wind started to get really patchy and non-consistant arghhhh , but before that while the tide was up it was blowind a good 20 to 25....

Tried out the new sonntag fins i had the gps 25cm on first and quite underpowered on the kit due to the wind going spastic and managaed to pull off a 37kt run not to bad considering the conditions.

Then straight after went in to put on the sonntag SL-S 30cm anfd that felt much better and still pulled of some good runs but would have been a better combo if i had the 7.8 up , will do next time..

Nude 54 , NP RSR 6.7 , sonntag 30 , 25 ......

Later went to wello for the gps 500 comp and results are from there 2sec - 35.86 , 5 by 10sec - 34.77 and 500m - 34.12.....

iS101, 7.5 Koncept, 37Sl Lockwood McDougall - Lammermoor Beach, QLD, AU Wind SE 18 - 25knots

Woohoo, finally broke my Yeppoon PB's for my 5x10 and Nm.  Bit overpowered in the gusts and should have rigged the 6.6 but still had a great sail.  First real time I've got to use the lockwood mcD fin and it didn't let go once.  Can't fault these babies in the chop.  Some hairy moments going broad with the swell and cross chop but managed to keep it altogether.

Mineral (Mike from WA) is in town too so hopefully I'll get him out tomorrow for a sail.

PS - Mineral I have marked the sailing club on below GE track FYI

[edit - GE track accidently had two different tracks on it. This one yesterdays only]

Well, after winter hibernation I’m finally made back to Wind surfing. And it shows in my results – out of shape and condition, anyway it was good to be back and enjoy the day at Wello.

Cheers B................Cool

Brad,

30knots isn't too shabby.  Good work.  Just about to go for a sail now although rain has killed the SE somewhat.  It feels like it may pick up though.

Good going there Snags. I kept checking the BOM and it just looked like a lot rain on the coast. Maybe I should have chucked the gear in the ute and gone for a look.

Great teameffort, nice fin ODIN ;), its my favorite speedfin for iSonic 86

Too bad its now between 4-6 degrees celsius airtemprature at my place, still it is not enough to keep me off the water tomorrow :). Maybe even some teamchallenge stuff like distance-hour possible.

Cheers eric , not bad for a first session on these fins still have a bit of tunning to do and of course some consistant wind to really give them a go .

But the verdict for now is very good ...
