Jimbob (26496km): Lake George, SA, AU from the Drift, N 5 to 25. F2 Missile, 5.8 and 5.0 KA Koncept, 24 choco weedie. was great to have someone to sail with today as team captain Kimba came down to have a blast with me. the wind came in a lunch time, hard to judge the wind strenght out from the drift when there is no white caps and it can be cranking, went out on the 5.8 and only done a couple runs and couldn't lock it down so on went the old favourite 5.0. had a few sweet runs and then it came in dark and the rain came. at least it flattened the 3 to 4 inch chop out the middle to stuff all, had a 38.0 on the last run in. thought about keeping going but the rain and front had nearly past and knew the wind would drop to stuff all and go to the SW when it past, made the right move as 2 mins later there was nothing... .poor Kimba got stuck out and had a HUGE walk in... I was fully powered up on my 5.0 and Kimba is on a 7.8 !!!!!!! I think I need to harden up... Hopefully Carl lived up tp his plan and him and Sam done a heap of k's at Boggy and just didn't get on the port early. | ||||||||||||||||||
Captain bogan (50690km): Sam and me planned a distance today. Wanted a PB. Up at 4.30am, On the road just after 5am and arrived at boggy to meet Sam at 6.30am and no wind. Waited till after 7am to have a port and followed up another couple. Next to arrive was some fisherman who caught a 9 pound carp - they were going to eat it. Next was Chris D - he rigged straight away and Sam rigged and i was a little merry. By the time they rigged and went out i decided to rig. They had a good dozen runs and by the time i got on the water i only had 2 runs and it dropped. By this time it was lunchtime and i had done 6km's. Not going to be a pb day. The wind eventually picked up and was very gusty - hard work and then dropped again later and switched direction. Some of the fronts that came through would have been 25+ knots. Used the big gear for the gusty conditions and loft blade 7m and 102 were incredible as usual. Sam was smoking as usual. Hard work but fun day. Boggy lake - 15 - 23 knots. Fanatic falcon 102 / 7m loft blade and 35cm / 33cm sl7's. I might do it all again tomorrow with a better forecast and hopefully get on the small gear.

Kimba (8089km): First day at Lake George sailing with Jamie. Went out on the 7.8 and 111 first and headed upwind, wind was starting to fill in at 25 so I did a run back to base and got a 36.85 on the 111 and didnt have quite enough for the mile, I was mid 33 for 1300m of the run. Tried the 7.8 on the 49 speed board with 23 Slingshot and it worked really well - would probably be less fun in big chop though. Got 2 runs of the wind to get 3 10s in the mid 36's and then made the mistake of trying to get more when the wind died. 45 minute sidestroke/crawl through weed and mud. I was knackered when I got back and called it a day. Great sailing with Jamie, I should have had the head cam on as there was a great run off the wind together. Very happy with the range of the 7.8, still waiting for a 6.2 - will prbably arrive Monday knowing my luck! Had some screaming alphas but were too wide on the speed board - trying to stay out of the weed. RSR E3 7.8 - Falcon 111 - S10 37 then JP49 - 23Slingshot N 5-25 |
