Melville Beach, WA, AU

The kind of day where it's always going to be a punt on when best to sail. The front was the strongest part of the day but not very inviting! Had a reasonable session just after lunch but patchy and waining. Some brief moments when pretty lit on the gear. I was using. Tried soft tip mast in 7.8 Reflex and new Flying Objects Nitro 42cm fin. Set-up felt pretty good.

i think bender it would be a mix and match of some of SP's prototype masts

perhaps he could enlighten us

but i did think to myself SP when we were talking that you had your sail particularly hard down hauled but this makes a bit more sense

I have since scored a one off severne mast that is extra stiff in the bottom with a flexi tip. The reflex rigs with heaps of draft in the bottom along with heaps of twist. i was just interested to see if he had the same.

Hi Bender,

The mast is actually one from a set that the Severne Loft had made for Bjorn upon request. He wanted a set that had soft tip sections in order to sail overpowered in speed conditions. I thought today could be a good day to try it. I think it could be a good option for lighter sailors in gusty conditions. It certainly handled the major wind shifts well.

Cheers SP
