Claude (28076km): Melville beach, WSW 15-20, great to meet Anthony and Isaak who wasted no time to sample the warm waters of WA after their long trip, Snides, cheryl and Stringer also out for a morning session. IS 107, 7.0 Reflex, 38 Choco.
Snides (28038km): Melville Beach, WA, early start and off the water just before the wind came in. trying to dial in a new board. xfire 102/talon 34/7.0 evo 3 nice to catch up with the Perkins boys. 5-18kn west/south
Slowboat (49232km): Melville. On the water at 3:20 using Evo III 7.8m and Mistral 138 with 44.5 fin. Did some runs on the 113 with a 37 fin, then went and picked up the 8.6m EIV from Reg, and back on the water at 6:15 to try it out on the big board. Out of the bag it rigs perfectly. I didnt even play with the batten pressure- it was right from the word go. On the water it feels great. Rotation is improved too. Cant wait to get the 7.8m wet Best speed was on the 113, with some of my 10sec on the big board and the 8.6m. didnt go for alphas. The best one looked like a split pin and was on the outside in the chop.

Stringer (7685km): ouch, Melville pain-o-drome
EDIT: Melville pain-bowl, RSR evoiii 7.8, Fanatic Falcon 85, 111, 134. talon 34, canefire 42, talon 48. no big speeds today, spent 90% time on the 134. some nice long runs frm southside to Peli and back early while it was more W than SW. really happy to join the 200 club, inspiration definately came from Clarkey. the last few miles were the hardest in the dying breeze and failing light. now that i am a master (35+ y.o.) i couldnt let the tassie blow-ins see me faultering under the old age. hehehe
thanks claude for the fin, darryl and lockboat for the twilight company and help de-rigging- my hands and in ribbons!
i thought it might have been a spot distance record but as it turns out snides has clocked 202 k's and rumours have it that claude has clocked well over 200 too. well at least the rightful owners of the water retain the title :D
Chris Adamson (14466km): Quick spin at Melville before I had to dart off to see The Arctic Monkeys Chop was small but plentiful - hard to go quick, especially with not much breeze. Lots of punters out including a few blow-ins from the East. Manta 59, Warp 7.0, Talon 32 |
