KA6.6 Kinetic57 26 Choco weed speed, Sailed out the sore spots from yesterday. Started before lunch and decided to rig big sail and go until I was stuffed and then head home.

Nice sail in some glassy calm spots just cruising back and forth across the lake. As the wind picked up I came in for a quick bite and rest, changed to Daves Lorch Speed board to give it a whirl ( never sailed a board that small before) but could not improve on my times and really needed to change down but with a long drive home ahead, I decided I was better to get home and save it up for a rematch latter in the year. Was holding my own at the begining but as the wind slowly increased and I got tired, I was getting floggedCry

Congrats to all the sailers smoking all over the patch

Lake George, SA, AU. Wind: 15-25

Tabou 59, KA Koncept (07) 5.8, Choco Speed Weed 26

Sailed early before the wind kicked, good long runs, most K's i've done in recent years, will pay for that tomorrow !

Good flat sailing, not over powered at any time, nice day to just run the board and sail !!

left early, hope the wind kicked a bit more for the boys that were still there.

Great day at  "Lake George" wind was mostly around 18-20knts for most of the day, was stoked I could get going with my 5.6 Blade and AB 54 slalom board while most where on their 6.6 sails, had a near miss with a freight train by the name of Tim, he was doing a downwind run and I was sailing cross wind, we saw each other when the foot of his sail clip the nose of my boardSurprised if we hit it would have been serious injury to both of us or even curtains but luckily someone was watching over us.Wind kicked in late in the day and I only managed a few powered runs before heading home, sail was tuned to perfection and sailing fitness is backTongue out could have done more K's if I could have stayed., great catching up and meeting  so many people from all over Australia! Jimbob you've created a monster!!!!

Really under powered today, should have be on a 7.0 and slalom board but lent my bigger fin to Kym.Went for an hour but stop way short, had me walking around on the bank.Had some nice alphas but just to wide.Still a fun sail and good to see Kym get some PBs.Wind was starting to build at the end but had to leave, had a 5 hour drive home.

Day trip for a chance to better the stats I should have last trip.

Went out on the old RSR 6.7 early as I thought the 7.8 / Falcon 89 / Delta weed 27 might be a bit unbalanced and heavy.  The old thing did ok and still had plenty of bottom end grunt.  It was fantastic blasting in the flat water and glass patches(reminded me of the early 90's here) and I soon got a 40 on the dial.

Got up close and personal with Choco on one run when he was in my blind spot and I was in his!  The nose of his board tapped the foot of my sail and since we both came of unscathed I continued down the run.  I only knew about it when I heard a tap and Choco saying woah...Shows up in the video footage...

Went in and changed to the 6.2 evoIII at lunch when it looked like it had picked up and headed out on the JP49 up to the NM start where I sat waiting forwind.  It was too gusty and my attempt was pathetic so I wnt in to swap the 49 for the Falcon 89.  During that critical rig swap I was a bit lax and off flew the 6.2 cartwheeling and floating for 50m - I had to chase it down through the shin deep slop.  Each time I nearly caught it off it went po-going end on end until it finally stopped long enough to pounce. The mud is more draining than sailing!

Went out for a few more NM attempts but I couldn't time any decent wind through the run and was oversheeted on the verge of stalling the whole way down. Looks like I will have to wait until next summer for a crack with some good wind as I had to head home and didn't like the prospect of roo's in the Coorong.  Ended up seeing a couple of sheep and only 1 roo which I was happy about.  Pulled in the drive at 12 after leaving at 7:30.  Took Choco's advice and sprayed the undercarriage of the beast at Meninge, mileage went up after that.

When I left Spotty was flying and didn't seem to have any problems with lulls, I am sure he had a big 40+Nm in there.

Great quick trip - I had hoped to sail Monday arvo when I had arrived at 6 but the launch was flodded on the westerly and I couldn't go to the spit with the commo.  I will hopefully have the x-trail next time.

Great to catch up with Hamma, Chocco, Kym(congrats on the 6 pb's), Dave and Tricky from the demons, Daffy, Spotty and Kato as well as Cam at the end.

Will post some footage some time of the glass and fin trails...

RSR 6.7 - Falcon 89 - Delta Weed 27 then EvoIII 6.2

Congrats on the PB's Jeff, Dave and Choco.  Choco, sounds like you used a life on the near miss.  Would like to see the combined tracks at contact point to see just how fast you two were going.

BTW - What's the seasonal water cycle for Lake George and is it only refreshed from rain?

That's amazing. You guys are both very lucky.

You can see the projection of Choco's board before the last second crank upwind. That could have been very ugly.

Just imagine that happening to two fast sailors!! Surprised

I will post the video in real time, this is split second stuff (25fps) so the clip is only 1/2 a second long.  The video shows me continually scanning downwind and choco is still hidden behind either the luff or the clew panel. Choco, I will have to find the part of the track it happened, it might be easier to send each other the tracks and playback until they cross...

Checked out more of the footage and there are some nice shots of the glass patches with fin trails.  HD plays much better on my workstation at work with 16Gb of RamLaughing.  Thanks for all the encouragement re. the PB.

Sausage, I will try and zoom up on Choco's face and but I am pretty sure he said woah so it should look like thisSurprised
