hoppybogan (25974km): Stansbury, SA, AU Told Tricky that i might sail from Stansbury to Port Vincent today on the Westerly but arrived at Stansbury to find the wind was WSW blustery to 30 knots and patches of nothing inbetween. So i rigged the 5.4 raf supernova, F2 sputnik and went out for a blast in the bay. The westerly is a challenging wind, strongly planing through the gusts then trying to stay in the straps through the lull waiting for the next gust to arrive. But it is a nice change to sail the line from the caravan park across the bay, past the jetty, to the shore inside the cliffs as opposed to sailing the line out to the beacon. There is not so much weed out in the bay on the westerly as well ( just a bit by the point of the caravan park ). Anyway , feeling refreshed after that sail." I am the Sea Dog".
Choco (14568km): Wow how good is lake George!!!! after sailing the home spot today it was a welcome back to reality wind was all over the place biggest gust was 37knts(going by the BOM) water was confused messy chop, it was a matter of getting the right gust and finding a smooth line through the crap..got my fastest run coming back into the car over the chop..good fun though used the AB54 to start and then realised that it don't float me that well in fresh water plugged the 59 in and the extra volume was a great help, boys were still out there when i left hopefully thay can get some good runs in to put the team on the map for the month . AB59/54 Loft Blade 6.3 lake Bonney 18-30knts....................looks like another Lake George trip next saturday if the forecast holds
Hamma (12038km): Fanatic 85 ,F1 30cm,5.8 EVO IV Lake Bonney Like Choco said, forgot how crap our lake is to sail, going from 20 knts to 0 and confused messy chop.Had a few rides and felt like packing and going home.Man Lake George has been so good, might have to move.Sail felt great but was'nt the best day to try it.
Sammy (43182km): What a weekend. I'm am buggered. Yesterday I had one of my best mates weddings to go to and at the last minute decided it would be good to follow it up with a beachport lake george trip. Wife said (are you f'n stupid) I would say yes but to us windsurfers this sounds completely normal ( please agree), anyway I offered to be sober driver at the wedding as I was driving to George in the morning. Got back from the wedding at 1:30 then to bed by 2, woke at 4:30 after what I consider more of a power nap than anything, to get ready for George. Carl arrived at 5 we packed his stuff in the car and left. Suprisingly felt quite good ( excited I guess) and arrived at lake George around 9:30. We rigged in the rain and no wind :-(. Bummer. Thought that maybe we were the only ones there for a reason. Jimbob turned up and the wind followed him and we went out on our speed boards. Had a great sesh. Would say it was slightly choppy but might cop it from you guys that aren't at George. Great place. Anyway after a great day in 20 to 30knots of wind carl and I packed and went home. Our peaks being exactly the same 42.64funny ey. I drove to Kingston and carl took over from there. I think the power nap wore off:-)). Stuffed now but wouldn't change a thing. Oh my misses still thinks I'm stupid. Great road trip with carl once again. GEAR: 6m gps hot sails Maui, 24choco weed speed and f2 xsmissile. Awesome combo
Captain bogan (50569km): Another excellent day road trip at Lake George with Sam. Not as flat as se wind direction but great fun heading through the middle of the lake in some nice flat water. Very flat reaching but with wind direction when you got hold of a gust and did a slingshot would hit the back of rolling 1 foot chop. It made for some hairy moments but great fun. Thought i had another 40 knot average but forgot to reset my gps at start of session. Funny having the same peak on the screen as Sam. As always Sam smoking mate, great fun as usual and thanks for the ride down again - great day. Heaps of wildlife out on the way home after i took over driving - a large deer and 2 x hares. Isonic 50 / 2011 6.3m loft racing blade / 24cm choco weedy. Lake George 20 - 30 knots w - s/w.
Jimbob (26496km): Finally got internet again....thanks carl. Carl posted for Jimbob - no internet at the moment - will comment later. Had a great sail with Carl and Sam, got there after the drizzle rain in the morning to find the boys rigged and on the port. Sammy tried his best to get some port into me but I held firm, maybe should have had a swig it may have got me the extra couple knots they had on me. funny as planing past carl stuck in the weed monster when he had clear water 20 metres to the side of him. wind W to SW 20 to 30 nad had a good gust in a shower that came through early. uasual F2 missile 62 litre with 5.0 Ka Koncept was sweet today as ran a bit less downhaul after flapping the leech last week and having to patch it up. sailed upwind of the others on some really flat areas but with weed to the top in spots, it didn't slow you down though, Sammy caught on and followed my run and had a 42 straight away. Didn't go for a mn as don't like running to the end where the boys where going, just not worth it when I have a good one for the year already. Danny turned up again therd weekend in a row and asked a lot of questions about a gps think he will be joining us soon. seen someone sail from shellys beach and come up the middle of the lake hanging on, turns out it was Daffys mate from belguim, looks like he was having a great time. Had to leave early to get home for a sleep before night shift so didn't get to hang at the end. Friday arvo will be a wave arvo for me hanging to get a blast in the surf and looks like back on speed sat, already had a text from jarques looks like he is coming over.
