hoppybogan (25974km): Stansbury, SA, AU W/N/W 10-20knots Sputnik, NP raf supernova 5.3, 28 weedy After no wind for what seems like forever the westerly was looking real good so off to Stansbury. On arrival the rigging area had been blocked for the vintage boat festival so had to look for a place to rig. The wind was marginal but rigged for the forecast wind anyway and by the time i had rigged the wind was there. Set off on port tack and did the crash bash across the sea for 14km until i reached Pt Vincent and was glad to change to starboard tack for the return to Stansbury. The 6.2 would have been a better chioce in hindsight but stayed out on the 5.3 ( too lazy to come in and change up) because at times was well underpowered between the gusts. I have Choco's AB+67 and bought a BPS32 from Garreth last week but didnt use it today because on the gusty westerly i didnt want to hurt it, so used the sea dog (sputnik) instead. Must say it felt real good doing Stansbury- Vincent and back and in the right conditions with the right sail doing that twice in a row would be great for the 1 hour. Decided not to wait around for the spit to be right and packed up and finished by 1 o'clock.
Chris Dimond (12355km): Boggy Lake, SA, AU iSonic 107 / Severne Reflex II 7.8 / Select 39 Elite Wind maybe 15-20 WNW Nice to be back on the water. Didn't really want to get any 'numbers' but thought I should at least wear my GPS to back up the team. Had some nice duels with Sam, but his ability to plane out of gybes in 4 knots of wind meant that he got away from me a bit!! I did try for an hour, but with no watch and getting caught in a lull, I don't think it was a very good effort. Keen for the next sesh.
Sammy (43182km): Fun day out on the lake with a good crew showing up. Also had so awesome blasting fun with chris. At one stage we must have swapped the lead several times in twenty minutes. I reckon for about 8 laps we didn't get more than 10 meters apart. Great fun. Did end the day walking back with no wind. At least I wasn't alone. Carl kept me company out there and another bloke who's name I don't know. Used 7.3 hot sail Maui which was very good and 2006 111 falcon. Great combo
Captain bogan (50569km): 1st time on new 2012 Hot sails Maui 6.0 GPS. Not really enough wind and too gusty but had to rig and try new sail. Wind was gusting from 10 - 20 knots. Only had 4 powered runs and my fastest of the day was on 6.0m. Great sail - very fast, powerful, stable and seems to track upwind well. Following picture of Sam with 7.3 - 6.0m's big brother and me with 6.0m. Might have to get a 7.3 soon with my front weight jacket. Good to see Chris D out again and a good turnout. Hope for some more wind soon... Boggy lake - 10 - 20 knots. Fanatic falcon 102 / 2012 6.0m hot sails maui / 35cm. Fanatic falcon 102 / 2011 7m loft blade / 35cm.
