PJ (24612km): 29-09-12 Lake George-WWSW 12-26 knots-Mistal SL 68 wide-Loft Blade 6.3m-C3 Sting2 34cm and 36cm An all day session, on the water by 7am. Cloudy, cold gusty day with 2-4 degree wind shifts with downdrafts. Could not turn the board for shit today, its a work in progress. Mistral is a beautiful, easy to handle board ,eats small chop but gybing is rather technical and harder for me the further back the mast base is. I rather suspect the board may be to good for the user's abilty re gybing. x2 sessions, basically before and after lunch. 2nd session swapped to bigger fin from 34 to 36 and moved mast base forward to mid-point.

Jimbob (26496km): Beachport, Lake George, West gusty crap wind. didn't try for numbers again today just quite happy crusing round. as westerly's are choppy just stayed in close doing a few gybes and hanging with the crew and socializing , was great to have someone to sail with, sailed the first hour on my JP 92 freestyle wave and 4.7 ezzy but forgot to put the gps on oops. put gps on and went out on F2 stoke 117 with small 24 weedy and 5.8 Koncept was a sweet setup as could gybe in close with ease and still mack it back upwind. done one run at the end across the lake to keep pj company. my 011 Koncept is the ducks nuts. Young Kurt borrowed my gps for 10 minutes to try and up his 19 knots from last year and he smashed it with a 22, not bad for a 13 year old and on an evo wave board with lots of rocker.

Retired Bogan (6747km): Lake George, SA, AU Sat at Lake Georg, great to get down there again.A good turnout considering there was no competition organised, several faces I have not seen before, but good to see Jimbob Karl and Sam down there. Wind was westerly and up and down but still a good day. 5.2 Hellcat 103L F2 | ||||||||||||||||||
Captain bogan (50569km): Day 2 - Lake George. Another windy day. 20 - 25 knots - we decided to pump out a quick 1 hour. Used the isonic 86 with 6m Hot sail GPS and R325 Black Project fin - great combo. Still amazed how choppy it was but managed to get in a hour and decided to go for some speed. Like yesterday no flat water. Thought i only had a 33.95 but checked speeds and found just under 36 knot peak. PJ the machine was pumping out some serious k's all day - Well done. Sam and me went in for a break and ended up being soft and didn't head back out. Pretty disappointed in the lack of attendance for a weekend that has been popular since the 90's. Great to catch up with Jimbob - 2nd weekend in a row and some of the regulars and wave sailors. Day 3 - seemed light wind so Sam and me ended up going 4WDing. One of the highlights of the weekend was when hurrying up to be ready for the group had to drop a quick poo. Visited the long drop and some blow flies hit me in the clacker. What a blast through the sand hills / dunes from Beachport to Robe - What an amazing place - beaches and coastline - excellent weekend - can't wait for next year.... |
