4431 days ago Mostly under done but I was desperate to try my new 6.3. Felt sweet in the gusts today. Had a team meeting with Damo (well whats left of Damo) and Patrick out on the sand bank while we where skunked. JJ would have attended but he was asleep in his car.

Wasn't looking too promising at lunchtime - had a nice grandpa nap waiting...
It looked like the wind was building around 3pm - got the 86 out, got a few runs but pretty under-done.
Took out the big board which was much better.
Anyway fun sailing with Trouty and Slowy and catching up with Grumpy

4431 days ago 2 categories Mandurah for the WWA Opening Day.
Got down there around 1 and after checking the 'Breeze on the phone (gusting 25K on the Mandurah graph) rigged what I thought was a sensible combo...Patrik 135 + 8.4 TR8 + 44 Vector weedie.
Got on the water and pre-start it was quite fresh (18-20K) and I thought I'd made the right call. Unfortunately it dropped substantially after the start and on the first leg I was bearing away to stay on the plane and had no hope of making the first mark.
Decided to abort the race and go for a cruise across the estuary. Sailed all the way over to the other side and back, and found myself a long way downwind. I was dogging along, contemplating a long slog upwind in the sketchy breeze, when the rescue boat came to see if I was OK. Temptation prevailed and I asked for a ride back to the beach.
Thought about upsizing to the 9.6 (that I should've rigged in the first place ), but didn't want to chance another upwind slogfest, so I packed up.
Pretty annoyed with myself that I didn't rig bigger, but after reading Slomo's post at least I know I wasn't the only muppet that misjudged the conditions
Ps: I deducted 4 kays for the boat ride home.
Pps: Thanks to Mark and the rest of the WWA crew for a cracking event in less than optimal conditions

straight from work to mandurah
keen to get some testing on the new board and luckily the weather was looking perfect
decided on the 7.0 rther than the 6.2 but even though i made the right choice there i made the wrong call on the fin should have used the 34 pointer
got a shocking start well at least thats what i thought it was, i may have been and i still am quite confused about what happened there
anyway sailed as best i could on the gear i had chosen and ended up alright, i was only lapped by the first 3 and by the end when the wind decided to kick a bit i had some really good pace and a great little tussle with rowan of which i was surprised to find myself winning never the less he was a lap in front of me at that point
i think i got 9th or 10th
all up stoked with the board especialy doing over 28 knots across the wind that would be close to a pb for me on any of my kit

4431 days ago Peel inlet, Mandurah Marathon. F111, K6.4, 40 LE weedy
My first windsuring event as a competitor. Underpowered but I finished, I completed some gybes, I got back upwind to the beach by myself and I wasn't even tired. I am happy.
A third best 1 hr and distance for me, which considering the marginal sketchy wind, wasn't bad.
A fun and relaxed event with the pontoon providing a great viewing platform at the gybe mark for the spectators. I'm sure they were entertained.

Most time spent slogging it back to start point. Ah well, got wet for first day of new season. Walked past car and looked at reflection in side window, wondered who that ol fat out of condition bastard was that was wearing my wet suit
