Swansea Sand Islands, NSW, AU. Somewhere different, very light at home and definately a bit more and only 20 minutes up the road, Greg was out with a couple of others. Not easy getting out and in with the tide going out so fast. Thought I was going to get sucked out the channel. 8.3 Koncept 112 JP Slalom 36 JP weedy. Go Marauders!

Town Green, Port Macquarie, NSW, AU Sailed with AJ. JP 45, overdrive 6.7, slingshot 23 then select s09 - THx Adam for the lend.  Great fun, short run and no arvo storm that was predicted.

South West Rocks, NSW, AU

4.5 Atlas, 92 FSW, thruster.  Obs at Coffs were 27 to 35 but only 15 to 20 at Port.  Can't feel wind at rigging spot so thought I'd rig for comfort.  Maybe a little too conservative, but probably would have just been punished in the super on off gusts if I'd gone bigger.

Macleay boat ramp - great way to ruin a perfectly good nor easter.  Like fishing but for wind and with a rig. Tug. Nothing. Tug. Nothing.  Tug tug tug.  SCREEEEEEEEEEEEECH. Nothing. Got away. I wish I was kidding.  The jerks on the boom are honestly just the same.

Hot Sails Maui 8m GPS + Falcon 99 + Meanline 36cm.

A fun couple of hours with Dion on the Mark.J speed strip. Tide was low, sandbar exposed, water flat and a nice 15kn NE. Nicely powered up on the 8m - as Byron would put it, "comfortable arm chair sailing". One of the better sessions I have had there as the wind was nice strength for a change and quite consistent....as usual an extra 5 knots would have made it superb. Would love to sail this strip at Low Tide with a 25kn NE, a 6.6m and the Falcon 79 - it would be all-time......one day we will get it, just need to be ready.

Dion was smoking on the speed board and cranking some really nice gybes on that board which is so bloody small. That fin you had a go on Dion was a Select Caspar Speed 09 size 29cm. Mark.J can get them in really cheap as they are now superceeded by a new model fin - only in certain sizes though.

Wallis Lake, NSW, AU. A late sail at the sailing club as the NE went northerly.Overpowered on a 7m GTX and Falcon 102,and lots of trouble waterstarting in the chop and very gusty wind - drank half the lake and sinuses full of water. Still no alpha!!! Lovely flat water on the weed bank meant lots of fun, with 9 people sailing so very social as well.

Sailing Club Wallis Lake, NSW, AU

Another Noreaster that didn't fill in at Booti. Migrated up to the Sailing Club to get some gusty and holey NNE to NE wind at about 15- 22k, with an out going tide making for some nice flat water out wide.

Pity the stronger gusts were coming through just off the weed bank! Very ordinary otherwise. Choppy and weedy everywhere else, and another mission to get out and back.My plans for a structured session didn't turn out.Settled for a short sail, hoping I wasn't too underpowered.Probably could have used the 6.5 like everyone else, but went more for ease. Rigged the "slow" stuff again.Hawk 93 LTD. Finworks 11.5"weedy 6.0GTX. It was sooo gusty!!

Sailed with Pete, Geoff, Chris. Bill and Anton came from the other side and I met up with some old clients from the past at the sailing club. Klaus and his family and Debbie and her daughter. One or two blow-ins about. We left Andre down at the point as he'd already rigged his 7.8 and hopefully got some nice runs in down there!SmileSorry Andre, but we had to get that elusive wind!It was definetley windier up there this time again.

Weird, almost creepy silence on the water today. You couldn't hear a sound. Then I realised Johnny Miller wasnt sailing today.

My tracks

A lovely lady by the name of Michele Brennan was walking around the river foreshore and took a couple of snaps on her i-phone. Michele has emailed me a couple of low res jpegs which appear below, and she will email me a couple of high res ones next week that i will upload for file. Thanks for your time and effort Michele. Once I have the high res versions I will get Captain Mark to upload them to our team facebook site.

Hey Mick, we used to sail there  a quite few years ago. Loved the run to Coal Point and dodging the yachts in the bay on a nice stiff noreaster. Awesome fun.

The run back in over the sandflats behind the island is a really nice bit of flat water, and a fantastic gybing spot. The channel going out and back in is a challenge on a short board for sure, but worth it!

You really miss him don't you Pugs!

Captain Mark, or Mark.J, are you guys able to run Dion's file through realspeed to pull the speed details of each of his runs and post them up here?. We were interested to see if the last half of his session was faster on the more upright Caspar Speed fin  as compared to the first half with Dion's runs on the smaller stumpy C3 slingshot. Thanks guys

Hi Marauders. Do you have any recommendations for a super duper professional board repair and paint job? After Tues I was pretty confident that while a think chunk of paint had come off my fsw, I hadn't breached the core. I STUPIDLY took it out again yesterday and now I'm not so sure. I'm happy to do a back yard job on my other boards, but I LOVE this board and I don't want it to lose any strength or performance because I'm an idiot. Any recommendations for a good repairer anywhere between Sydney and Bris? This board is worth the drive. Thank you! :-)

Hi Gabe, yeh not a bad spot, just the access is tough. Sorry to say Greg, Byron and the rest of the Lake Macquarie crew but Aquatic club shits all over it. Salty, Bucco's surfboards in Budgewoi does surfboard repairs and restorations. I've seen his work and he does a good job. Let me know if ur interested. I will get his number today.

Great Speeds & Numbers every body.

Nic, there are a few surf board repairers in Port.  One is in the Industral area. I don't know their names but if you go into the board shops on William St or Salt Water Wine shop on Gordon St, ( Near the Shell Garage ) and ask. Just make sure you tell them they have to use Epoxy Resin not Polyester Resin to fix it. They mainly use Polyester Resin to fix surfboards. Windsurfing Boards are made out of Carbon, Fibergrass & Epoxy Resins. They are alot stronger. Polyester resin wont stick to epoxy.

Try www.sfd-surfboards.com.au

The Guy Mick recommends sounds great.

Hi Salty, Bummer about the board. Happy to reccomend Glen Trewick who does Epoxy repairs, fibreglass repairs and surfboard restoration too.Glen is a boat builder cum panelbeater. I've had a few repairs done and his work is great. He's not cheap, but very good.

Ask Matt K in the team for a second opinion, and Ads from the Cockroaches. He gets plenty of work from Port Macquarie too as he says that some of the local repairers are too slow or not that good.He does all manner of repair and does good paint matching too.

1130 The Lakesway Darawank 0431 737624.He can organise return courier too. Cheers!
