Melville Beach, WA, AU

After a week with the family at Rottnest, watching it gust to 36knots around the island, was keen to get back on the board. Given the forecast went to Melville for a change and had a fun session with some big gusts coming through occassionally. Bar was shallow with scratches on the Vector 30 as proof but was fun bearing away in the bigger blows.

Melville. Got there just before 4pm and it was honking so i optimistically rigged the 5.5m and the 41 again. Plenty of big gusts out the back but it soon faded with no joy on the flats- a couple of 1 second low 20s gusts to get a couple of 39s on the dial. Changed to the Speed 55 and 26 fin and headed to Pt Walter hoping to catch the last of it before it switched off completely. Really gusty there, but did find a couple of seconds of gust to get a 40.3 on the dial but it was super short. Headed back to Melville and rigged the 7.0m... but was still underpowered on that so called it quits.

Slowie you should have come down to Safety Bay again. It was really cranking down there like last Thursday, but flatter, you'd have scored 43's easily. Tom bribed them to remove the downwind cables on the dredge which was at the southernmost edge of the run for most of the afternoon.

Your 47 speed board even works nicely with a 4m sail!
