What a day.Thought we'd get a sunny day and some OK wind.WRONG!! Lately we've been hammered by wind and rain from the North and now from the south. Wind finally kicked in by about 10.00 ish and not long later the rain. The wind was not a lot of fun.More volume would have helped when not powered. Gusty 5-25k WSW to SW and some stronger with rain squalls that hurt the face to sail.
Not a lot of fun bogging and waiting to waterstart in the coolish water. Only wore a springy today. Had two sessions, hoping the wind would settle while I had some lunch. Rigged 5.5 Vapor, SL79 Vector 27 weedspeed. Boy did I need that weedy. The north end of the lake was choked withlarge rafts of weed blown in from the previous wind. The flat water was nowhere to be seen. Did manage the peak speed over near the island weed banks though, so it was worth going over to it.The numbers speak for themselves. Not the best of sessions.
Good crowd today despite the crappy weather. Pete, Rob, Bill, Anton, Andre and later Pete and Hamish rocked up to have a go. A couple from Sydney turned up and had a lash in the "washing machine" Good effort from both, on 4.7's. as Rob said you could have used a 6.0 or a 4.7 today and manage a few runs.Hoping tomorrow will be better. Looked at "Lizzy" Beach on the way home, and the surf was looking quite nice with around a dozen locals getting a decent 1.5 -2m wave in strong offshore conditions. Left the board at home, otherwise would probably have gone out. Hope the rest of you guys did well.

FAlcon Slalom 79 + 30cm FO Weedy + 6.6 HSM GPS
Nice arvo at Queens. Water warm depsite all the fresh in it. Wind was 25kn SW in the gusts perhaps on the mudbank, but way more brutal in the open lake with shit loads of nasty chop. Even the mudbank was choppier than usual with the high tide and extra water, but still way fun. Took advice from Mark.J and moved the mast track back a bit and the board sailed over the mudbank chop no worries and was way more controllable. Got the tail end of a couple of lucky gusts on the bank.
I reckon that on a day where the SW is more consistant, but say similar stregnth, someone on the team will crack 40 there for sure - could even be this winter - let's hope! Great to see lots of guys on the water today
Graeme borrowed by Falcon 99 today and did over 35. Bastard! My best peak on that board is only 34.5!

3.7 Gaastra Grind, 85lt BiC Saxo, 25cm wave fin. Got there about 5pm and the lake was white. Peter and Hamish were coming in as I was heading out. Big, short, sharp chop no good for speed, just survival sailing so didnt stay out for long, good to have a crack in some heavy wind.
My anemometer peaked at 28kts on the shoreline amongst the trees before I left. That would be close to 35 on the water!

Way overpowered today on my 5.9 loft. It was survival sailing.
