4295 days ago Amazing speeds today for so little wind. Gusts to very little over 30 knots.
Water super flat in speed runs.
Tried for 1 hr for half and hour but was feeling quite uncomfortable and felt the speed was not going to be 30 knots average so aborted. Half hour average speed was just over 29 knots so I was right.
Tried a number of different fins and came back to the old faithful KA assy 20cm for the speed.
Ran the old IS50 with Koncept 5m and Vector 23cm speed weed for the aborted 1 hr attempt. Fin probably just a little bit too big for rhe conditions.

Spotty (8858km):
4293 days ago  LG mission and the LG border security were out in force and ended up dampening my planned assault on the speed playground a little, but thankful it did not turn out worse. The 5 foot of Roo meat at 100 klicks sent out to inact the entry fee affected the front of the van in a bad way. The nudge bar, bonnet, grill, spot lights, bumper, thermo's, radiator, and both headlights all Fuuuurked, but I manged to limp it to a small nearby town to assess under a street light. Got folded nudge bar off and tried to find leak to no avail, called totally 1/2 useless care roadside assist but they could not get onto any towies. Spent night in van and got a tow in morning to simple mech repair center at next town. Damage was assesed to beyond simple to get us going again shortly, and van was out of action. So with many thanks to Daffy he picked us up on his way thru and we manged to squeeze just about all my stuff into his allready half full van. We contiued on as I tried to sort car issues out on the phone.
Ended up getting a small hire car on the way out of 1/2 care, but they and my comp insurance were not going to tow my van back to Melb' to my repairer of choice which I'm allowed, but only to one of their nearest repairers in the vicinty pfff. Totally useles if you need to take it back if your not happy with the repair, and have to get it back to them 100's of k's away. Trying to get this sorted was a bit frustrating whilst wanting to stay out on the water instead of returning/chasing calls etc for van. In the end towie/mech had the best advice re freighting van back to Melb'/repairer and eventually all sorted halway thru sailing session.
Now to the sailing which was a blast, first went out on 6.6 Koncept on Mistral 112SL and with thanks to Jacques 24MrX fin managed to get a couple of 43.4's peaks. Went back out 2nd time to start an hour as the wind increased but was getting maxed out after a few laps and headed back in as it really picked up. Could see Hamma, Brad and others getting some fast ones in whilst rigging Martins 6.2 Koncept to go on the Mistral 47SP, Ka21.5 assy. Sadly for us this was the windiest part of the sess' as I made my way back out onto the Holy Lake.
From then on I was playing catch up with a sail I had not rigged or used before, but it felt pretty good anyhow. 1st and 2nd runs were the fastest with a 46.96 pk and 46.1 10sec in the mix, from then on it was all down hill as the wind slowly pulled back with the numbers on the screen ever decreasing. Most were packing up so started a 1hr on speed kit but after about 30 min the wind died further and I blew a gybe and could not even get a waterstart. After a long body drag back to the carpark and pack up, was great to head to pub for meal with all and talk the days tales over with a drink or few.
Hats of to Brad especially and others who PB'd, I think after looking at the data the only thing I came away in front with was a 45.565 500m which is pretty good considering the wind strength. Nm was good but I dont even recall even trying for one, so guess a better one would of been achievable especially in the thick of the windiest part of the session.
