Lonely- only one on the Lake..lol's c 12 - 23kts SSE - SE Lake  Munmorah, NSW, AU - gusty in close and a bit hard to work up but good out in the middle - some good ramps on port tack..Few jumps but on the best one ( decent height ) I stuffed the landing. Scary out in the chop as my board was a bit big + the fin certainly was.Canton has made me soft! Standing much too upright going into gybes in chop.ugh..

Yeehaas bearing off down the back of rollers..Tongue out 95ltre Tabou Rocket + 4.8m Hucker 30cms Tabou fin. Head cold + work to do so not out that long. The water is a lot warmer than Canton! Next time I'll launch from the carpark to the east as it will be easier to get out.Better angle + less wind shadow.

Marmong Point, NSW, AU

Choppy south/south easterly at marmong, gusting to about 20 knots at times. I was on the waveboard most of the day due to the crappy SE  cross chop but it went around to the south a bit later on so I got out for a while on the JP 68. Nice to get back on the bloody water again!

Green Island, QLD, AU

Exocet RS4 111, Mauisails TR8 8.4, JP Slalom 44 - Wind SE 12-15 kts

Day 3 Green Island Nationals

Another early start and straight into slalom.  Wind still looked decent so rigged 7.6 but couldnt stay planing down the first leg, so rushed in and rigged 8.4.   Made it out in time for my next race and ended up ranked in the third group (out of four) which was an improvement on yesterday.  A bit of a struggle at times to stay on the plane, but a few pumps and got going again.

Felt like I had half the Lake Mac team with me today - Using Steve/Andrew's old sail, Byrons old board, and Greg K's fin!  Gear worked well thanks guys!

Forecast is light for tomorrow so no more racing until Friday.  Will be nice to have a sleep in.

Sue I showed up at marmong at about 10.30 gurt and john showed up shortly after. It was gusty SE at first with some nasty cross chop that gave me a few almost catapults and a brutal straight legged jump landing that hammered my crook knee. gurt left at about 12.30 ish and as soon as he did the wind went straight southerly for a while and conditions were quite nice for about an hour. I was on a  crossover wave board with a 6.2 poison early on but switched to the JP 68 and 7.9 phantom when conditions improved. Thanks for the complements milsy and james! Much appreciated! good luck up there james give them hell mate. It looks like a really nice spot.

back up for Sunday arvo and Monday Greg?  Will be Mark's maiden voyage.

Good speeds when under done by the way!

looked at your tracks on google earth - did you do a deep water exit up the wall?

Has the sandbar opened up to the ocean in the middle yet or is it still holding strong?

Yep the wind dropped out , stuck in the middle , pitch black , crapping myself about sharks , scaled the oyster infested rocks , dont know how i didnt cut my feet to ribbons , but ripped my second top panel . Then trekking all the gear back from both ends of the run KILLED ME !!!!! Thanks for reminding me Adam , hahahahaha

Its still closed off , doesnt look like opening up . Theres alot of sand to move

If its on will come up for sure , its a great spot , but a tough day

I'm keen to give harrington inlet a go but I'll be going via manning point beach. I haven't been on manning point beach in over 20 years but the access through vic shoesmith reserve looks to be still open. If not I might have to fork out a nights campsite fee to use the caravan park access but I'd rather not as it's a lot further to the south. You guys without a 4x4 should perhaps consider picking up a cheap tinny and outboard and motoring over to the bar with your gear. Negotiating that breakwall sounds risky.

Cluffy, in a 4wd I think you are better off going to through Harrington, and accessing the beach to the north of the town, hitting the beach and heading back south to the top end of the speed run. When I was there the way across from Manning point didnt look good at all. You have to cross the main River which now exits through the centre of the 'gap' between Manning Pt and Harrington, (and south of the speed run) and Manning Point itself looks all eroded. A local mentioned to me that accessing the beach has become difficult as large swells have eroded the beach up to the entry point, making a large 'step' that is tough to cross / get back up....

Cluffy I don't know how you can do 30kts in chop!! I find 24 scary! Milsy where at Budgewoi? It would be nice to have company and Munmorah had a lot of holes..

Thanks for the info Jamie much appreciated. I've experienced those steps you mentioned on other beaches and they are definately something to be avoided. I might borrow my brother in law's tinny and motor over to the sandbar. That breakwall sounds a bit much for me.

Sue I don't mind a bit of chop as long as it's all coming from the same direction. Then it's a matter of finding the right angle between the waves and waiting for a bit of smooth stuff to open up and then gunning it for a few 2 second bursts. 5 x 10's in chop are a slightly different matter. My 5 x 10's are a better guide to how fast I'm going in chop. My 2 second times is me picking my moment to pull away a bit and gun it.

When the cross chop is nasty I'm finding myself reaching for my crossover waveboard more and more. It's not much slower in those conditions and it's a hell of a lot easier.

hey, well done greg and bryon, sweet looking session,,,,,,,,,,,,cluffy, you dont need to drive on the beach for harrington, you dont have to go down the wall, you can carry your gear a couple hundred metres and rig on the sand, its no worries man, and if greg is there, he will probably be keen to carry your gear,Smile, but it is probably only about half hr extra effort, than compared to canton, to get your gear down on the sand and rigged............its about half a minute extra effort if you go down the breakwall

Hi , you cant drive along the beach at Manning Point any more to access the Sandbar the river entrance has move from the North breakwall to the south headland near Manning Point , and to take a boat across the bar would be quiet risky , you can take the boat from the Harrington side and thats fine , thats what we did the first time Me and Dion sailed there , Harrington side is the best access point .

What is needed to make windsurfing easier at Harrington is a trolley to carry the equipment up and back.

What do you do with all the excess gear after you rig.. Just leave it there?
