Warners Bay, NSW, AU

Bloody cold but a nice breeze.  I had a couple of runs on my ray 102 but most of the time was on wave gear, a tabou 3S 106 and a 5.7 gaastra manic.

SW 22knts.  a perfect wind to try out my new DH setting and the board felt great. I sailed a little to windward to keep the speed down.

Ill take the time to get to know this gear before I head off downwind. Gert, John and cluffy were wrapping up as i arrived,Was informed the wind was stronger earlier.

Exocet 90 lt,maui 5.9 m, select31.

Exocet RS4 111, Mauisails TR8 7.6, Select SL9 43

Exocet Sting 134, Mauisails TR8 8.4, Select RS7 51  - Wind S 5-15 kts

Left work at 3pm with trees going crazy.  Grabbed gear and headed down to the sailing club at Marmong but wind had dropped by the time I got there.  7.6 was OK at the start but switched to big board and 8.4 and had some nice cruisy runs with the sun setting.  Not as windy as I had hoped but good to be sailing.  Water seemed really cold today.

Canton Beach, NSW, AU 7.6 TR9 with brand new RS2 Greg Furgison 25cm weed fin. 15 to 20 knots.

The new RS2 wow wow wow unreal speed one second off almost 37 knots with a 7.6 m smashed my pb for that size sail.

Jib I can not believe an alfa over 25 with that size sail and a nautical of over 32 knots.

PB hour first time on board I dont normaly try but decided to go fo it but wind was light and came off the plain around 4 times or so so imagine with 6.6m and more wind I can not wait to realy test the gear.

The fin was borrowed from Greg wow unbeilable power and top speed for a fin of that size.

So much fun sailing with every one it was a realy fun sail untill I had to go to work.

I did have a very scary moment with Mick Kay bearing down on a 35 plus knot run onto Mick I tried to sheet in and point up but the weed fin, nope not like a pointer had to bail out and just missed Mike I reckon by 2cm fuck I shit myself .I was wearing a hemet which I normaly never do, because of the cold so could not here Mick screaming.

Very sorry mate hope you dont have nightmares but only good memories of a fun day sail with friends.

15- 30kts SW Canton Beach, NSW, AU- 1st decent sail in a month and best for the season so far! Started 15-20kts odd with 125ltre Rocket= 5.8m KA Kult + 30cm weedie..Going well but thought the 95 rocket would be more fun so 5.8m + 95 Rocket.

Wind came in after lunch so Tabou Pocket wave with new weedie 20cm Makani + 4.8m Sailworks Hucker..Wow I take it back with a decent fin and sail that little board flies! Felt much faster than 26.71..dead flat and 20cm fin great in the weed.I can get upwind with the 20cms whereas the 18cm frestyle weedie I usually use is a pain and spins out if you put any pressure on it.

Still getting my act together gybing the 78ltre..Did first planing gybe for the season but lost some speed.Last season I could do 10 in a row..but that was before I started relearning with the step gybe ( before flip)..Happy with the alpha but should be able to do better if I can crack a gybe like last year and have consisitent wind out the other side.

As soon as I step with the 78 I lose speed and often round up.. Maybe stepping too late? Also need to plan foot placement as I think the leeward foot is often too far forward which gives the other ones no where to go or needs a shuffle to fix..

Lots of whoops & yippees.A great sail! I must be improving as before I wouldn't have followed everyone down into the corner for fear of not getting up again. Got the chat for bearing off too much..lots to learn..

Got to watch out for Milsy & Mat they were very trusting of my ability blasting past with inches to spare.. Milsy you know I have a heart palp problem.. I shit myself when you suddenly appeared 2' above me! lol's

AAh sane again.. now just have to do 5 days work in 1 1/2 days sigh..

Sweet numbers everyone.

I know how you feel Byron, I did the same but hit Paul at 33 knots, horrible feeling. You look but there is a blind spot.

Glad you missed Mick, scary!!!!!!!!

Great results Byron. Good to hear you love your new boards.

Whose fault is it if two boards hit each other sailing on the same tack? I'd think its the one upwind who is overtaking the one downwind. It sounds like we need to on the lookout when bearing offwind. I am not sure if I'm correctly visualising these close calls. The number one rule is to avoid collisions at all costs.

No you didn't scare me Mat it was Milsy suddenly appearing above me that did..I don't usually sail with the pack so a new experience for me - generally great fun!

Cluffy I don't know how you get such killer speeds in choppy water! Good stuff..
