I did debute going to Southend as I really need some flatwater speed as it's been awhile but after working three nights during the week I couldn't face the drive and the cost of diesel is alot too :( so with the wind sw and picking up during the afternoon I headed to the Manor and met up with Neil Hurrell. With wind gusting over 20 kts and sidshore I rigged the 6.4 but then Neil went out with 6.2 and was under to start with I quickly rigged my favourite Ezzy 7.5 and headed out about one with the aim of going for a hour. The wind was light to start but I managed to get going half way out to Wadgate post and then was well powered for the rest of the time. Things were going well for about 45 mins until I caught an edge gybing and went straight through the bottom panel of my beloved 7.5  - it is now dead :( I was a mile out but managed to sail back and quickly change to the 6.4 and continued to get my hour, managing to get my best hour of the year of 17.87 shame about the forced sail change as I might have got near the 20 kt mark !!! I then decided to go for a fast braod mile and headed off toward the pier getting a top 25.53 mile which I am very pleased with as the sea was very big by now - in fact I managed 12 n/miles over 20 knots :# as I was half way to the Dip I decided to carry on there to see now my mates were getting on there making it in three gybes with some great broad reaching.By the time I landed at the Dip the wind had really filled in - 30kts+ and the sea was huge with sailors changing down to 4.7 my chances of beating back were slim:# So after getting a lift back to The Manor I discovered that my mates were worried that I had gone missing and the lifeboat was on the way!!! I quickly rang 999 and cancelled the lifeboat and helicopter !!! as two coastguard 4x4's turned up having their coffee break interruped by me !!! So after giving them my details they returned to there cafe while I had to pack up in two venues !!!

Slightly over 3 hours sailing in very gusty winds.

Hard work but I enjoyed being out on slalom kit again!

Started with 118/6.9m until after few runs overpowered. Sea smooth rollers and good fun. Down to 96l/6m. Sea choppy off Dip and tried other side of sand bar off Bawdsey. Some rolling waves and near bar small waves. Nice time, nicely powered up. Wind appeared to be dieing so headed backover bar, thinking that looks shallow then grounded out and kiter made sure I was OK ploughing face down.
Well overpowered so down to 85l/4.7m. After 30 mins came into flatten sail but wind went offshore about 4pm, pity as sea was getting nice with nice breaking rollwers and smoother seas.
