10-c23kts WNW Canton Beach, NSW, AU- Exocet Xcross 115ltre + 30cm weedie + 4.8m + 5.8m KA Kult

I've made a decision ..Yay!! I'm getting the Xcross. It will be a harsher ride in the steep chop Off Coal in 15-18kts but it's so much fun!Tongue out The rocket has double concaves so is a softer landing in chop.

The Xcross motors upwind so that will encourage me to go for it and bear off more.. I could have used the 95ltre in the gusts today but there were a fair few lulls and the Xcross either just keeps planing or is very stable so they aren't really a problem. Headed out into the chop and not a problem - it was 45 degrees onto the nose and not straight into it though.. Was flying along in a gust and I could hear Mick yodelling along behind and upwind of me - I let out a few yeehaas.. and then realised he wanted me to follow his line and bear off.. I did - very deep! I ran out of wind in the sail a bit so came back up.I think one of my problems is I don't sail as powered up as the guys as I don't have the strength or fitness so often when I bear off enough I lose power.

Did a nice planing gybe. Gave Russell a go - he's used to a 90's 58cms wide board so the 75cm Xcross was a bit of a jump! It looked great when he was on it and he got 28.9kts (?)..

My 125 rocket will be for sale..$600  in an ideal world I'd like to have it for a few more weeks to try and get the basics of tacking down but if someone wants it now I suppose I'll sell. Have a few people interested.

Got to race off so will post some pics of Russel later - only my crappy 4 megapixel camera though.

Russell said he didn't go all out on the board so he could probably get a better speed. .Probably because of my comments re don't ding it as it's not mine yet! lols

Good to see you out again Greg! Yes it's almost time for summer wetsuits/ gear. One thing about not getting out often is you really enjoy it when you do!

Welcome back Greg.  Straight from the airport to the lake?!!

Thanks for posting the pics Sue, looks like a fun day.  I think the smaller but wider board will work well for you as a lightweight.  For heavier people I think narrower is better.

Nice session there you two. Can't believe there was wind! Very light up here. Had a great surf at Boomerang instead.Good numbers Greg.I bet you were dying for it.Somebody's gotta give Byron some competition!

Hey Sue, that was a Tabou Rocket 105 in the photo. It was Chris' "small board" and the other White/blue board is a Naish slalom 115. Also Chris' other board. I loved the Tabou.Almost didn't want to sell it. Does everything really well, and sails nicely. Not the lightest or the fastest, but a good allrounder.

Gabe so Chris sold the 105? Yes I like the rockets they are very comfortable and plug & play but I am really enjoying the change!

Where have you been Greg? ( airport etc..)

James thanks for  being the go between. I'll have to get the 105 back to Remi. The 115 will be a compromise but then so was the 125 rocket - anything that has to do from 5-20kts will be..

Yes Sue. Bill and Anton, his son have it now. Picking a board is a personal thing. You need to try before you buy if possible, and go with what works best with the kit you have. I Always enjoy testing them out and checking out the reviews as well as other opinions.
