Mineral (4665km): Horrible session at Melville couldn't get settled, and struggled with whoever was turning the big fan from setting 1 to setting 10 and then back to setting 1 whinged and whined about the 6.4 KA, but in retrospect, it was probably my gumby attempts that was the issue today. In the end I elected to pull up stakes, and watch for a while. Considered heading back out, but then it nuked once more so gave it away and packed up. Caught up with Mark, Pat, Dan, Sean, JJ and fianly met Geoff. Thanks for the gt31 JJ.
Obelix (3335km): Melville Beach. 101L / 7.5m. It was cold, and when Mark handed me my brand new GPS T-shirt I couldn't wait to put it on. 7.5m seemed too much when people were rigging for the gusts. It turned out to be a good choice. Nice to see so many Pinnaroos, and other GPS faces, but also the whole crew that usually sail at Pinnaroo Point was there. Everyone seemed happy today.
Geoff (4576km): Melville Beach, WA, AU
An enjoyable session at Melville; and the first time out with a GPS. Gear: GT-31, early 90’s Sputnik 275 and a Tushingham Lightning 5.3 It was great to meet a few of the other team members – Mike, Mark, Danijel and Sean. Spent a lot of time talking to Mark but I’m looking forward to having a yarn with all of you when it’s a little warmer on the banks of the river! Thanks for the shirts Mark and Anita.
lao shi (41082km):
Fun day at Melville Beach, WA, AU. Chasing the squalls with total glass offs in between which were a good opportunity for gasbagging. Thanks to Cheryl for picking up the T-shirts and Windxtasy for organising. Good to catch up with Macka, Scarrgo, Mineral, Obelix and meet Geoff as well as a bunch of other crew including the Southsiders mascot in team T-shirt Obelix looked a bit poorly when packing up after a big off. Hope you are not too sore and recover quickly. Had a couple of good drags with Geoff on his classic Sputnik and he was shifting. Welcome to the team. Amazed that Scarrgo hung on to a 6.2 on the 112 all the time! Mile run was in the first 15 mins when the rolling chop gave a nice run down to Majestics. The trick was not to get caught too far from home when the wind switched off. Perplexed to see Istaaak sailing in a wig! May have to try it as he was going quick! LB 6.3, is 90, GW32 all day.

scarrgo (8964km): Melville Beach, WA, AU ok last sesh before i fly out in the morning no super numbers but it was quite up and down and very hard work for everyone i elected to go for a bigger board and have no fears of being caught out by the veriable wind, the kit was a fair bit of a handfull to start with as i had it all setup wrong as i havn't used that combo for about 3 months but slowly i was getting dialed in but my boom was slowly getting more and more wobbly around the head and i t was getting quite bad so i hopped off in the shallows and after a bit of pushing and pulling and some investigation managed to pull one arm out of the head (WAS a mono carbon boom) so on that note sailed in clew first on the arm still affixed to the sail at both ends and borrowed a maui from darryl for a bit of a blast and some drag racing with some of the slalom boys good fun, i had a bit of pace here or there but struggled putting the power down as much as the other guys through the chop all up good to catch up with the crew before i go on another swing and good to wash the cobwebs off some of my kit 6.2 reflex 4, 112 mistral sl, 38 fo nitro |
