Only managed about 6 geriatric 36kt runs dodging about 50 other sailors for the day. Had a PJ speed muffin at the end of the day then went out for a mid 39kt run.

4048 days ago Ahh, I had a tech meltdown after mt GPS did something weird in a crasha late in the day. While friggin around with the GPS to restart it I wiiped my data, the file was empty even after a "Save to Card" So I only got my last few runns recorded. Bugger!!!
Great fun at Sandy Point, Started on the speed board but gave up after 2 runs frustrated by how hard it is to get started on the now on the speed gear with the dunes. Pincehs Daffys Salom 90 liter slalom board for a while, when he wanted it back I grabbed the KA/Cheeky monkey 70 Slalom off the roof. Chucked a 26 KA Slalom in it. It felt really fast and conposed down the strip. Got a cecent gust second run down when I looked at the screen 39.98!!!!!!! Woo Hoo, couldn't beleive it. Spent the next couple of hours trying to push it past 40 but just never got the gust, realed of lots of 39.s 38,s. Connsider it tested!!
Back on the speed gear for a few runs to finish the day.

Peter Johnston (8869km):
4047 days ago 2 categories Sandy Point, Vic, AU. Fun day blasting around with a big crowd of other sailors. A bit sketchy at times with people scattered and weaving all over the speed run. Lucky there were no crashes really. It would really be helpful to have a briefing and/or sign alerting people to codes of behaviour to help minimise the risks of any high speed crashes. I suspect some of the newer visitors hadn't considered the consequences of someone colliding with them at 75-80km/hr. There is room for everyone to enjoy the inlet but some simple measures such as not launching off the bank just in front of an approaching speedie, or checking over one's shoulder before either gybing or pulling into the bank would make a huge difference. And if flicky spinny stuff is done even 3-4m or further from the bank then it leaves room for the speedies to pass inside...
Luckily it isn't usually this crowded.
