Hit the road with Obi at 10 for City Slickers on water. Cars jam packed with gear, iced coffees and pastries. Beatles, Abbey Road put me in the right mood for the long day ahead and supplied me with the soundtrack for sailing the whole day.
Wind was in when we arrived, about 10 to 15kns and looking out at the water I was taken back by the colour of the water and how inviting it looked. Rigged the 7.5 and plugged in the 127 and I was away, all be it underpowered.
Was slowly getting stronger and we were starting to rack up the miles, a few long runs out past the tower i was loving it. Came in for a bite to eat and put the 94 in the water. Was a sweet ride after I had a chance to get used to it. Some nice runs with Obi through very flat water but still underpowered. Obi went in to pack up so thought I would call it a day then too. hecked the gps and said 61.1NM, quickly did the maths and decided to go out for a few more runs. Coming back in on last one hit a big clump of weed and went over the bars. Smacked my knee on the board in the process. Sat in the water for a minute then headed for shore. Got 20 meters from shore walking through the ankle deep water and bitten by a crab (this after telling Elmo no crab had bitten me all day). Had to pack up and head for home just as the wind was really building, think I could have knocked off a 2sec pb as well.
Maybe next time, I'll be back. Awesome place.
