Queens Lake, NSW, AU

Sailed with Steve & Salty Nic!  Wind in the middle of the lake was about 18 Knots gusting higher.

Lots of Chop ! Ankle & Knee started to hurt so I called it a day. Should have tried to sail up where Steve went.

Fanatic Skate 109TE, 23cm Wave Fin, 6.4 KA Kult.

Fun bump and jump session at the turn of the tide - water bumpy as a Mo-Fo, but a top sail on the fun gear. Sailed with Mark Jordan who was pulling off carving 360s on his slalom gear - RESPECT!

Great sail at Queens Lake. Mark and Nicole were out having a go. Sailed the mud bank in 15 -20 knots NE. Tide was lower today so plenty of flat water.Had some great runs over glassy water. Good to be on the 6.6m again.

F2 sx medium, Hot sails 6.6m Gps, Jp 31cm weedy.

Coomba Bay, NSW, AU. Coomba speed strip day 2. Just Anton and myself today. My 2 sec peak was done on the KA 6.6 and rest of the session on a GPS 6m on the Tabou 105. really enjoyed the session and I can feel the 30 knot mark so close.

Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU. 5 days in a row of up hauling is my limit, did a couple of extra beach starts. Got in foot straps in their back position for the first time and the mothership seemed to lift of and go a bit side ways and things which made me stop as I thought fin must have left the mothership but it was still there? Heaps out again GO MARAUDERS and Carl !!!!

Queens Lake, NSW, AU

Second time at Queens in a NE.  Queens 2, SaltyNic 0.  Just never seem to make the right decisions.  At least a torn sail is much easier to fix than a torn knee Wink

Great to catch up with Captain Mark and Steve.  Steve was flying in the top corner.  Hope your ankle improves soon Mark!

Did it again and rigged too small. 78 litre and 5.8. Next time I am rigging BIG! But, still a great day. Sunny, warm, and sailing with a great bunch of guys.

Yee ha Marauders.

Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU -  NE 15-20 knots. NP 6.5 V8 + Extreme 100L 53w + MUF 21.

Sailed with Mick, Johnny, Pugs, Paul C, Frothie, Jamie, Matty, Karl and a few others. A shorter session than previous as my hands were aching after 5 days in a row!!

Still nice conditions, boy does Matt D crack it down wind. Tried to follow but could not keep up!

Well done boys. Think I have earned a rest day.

Cheers Marauders.

Another awesome day on the water, my old harness finally died today half way through the session so had to head in and replace it. Thanks Mark J for the new one, still need some time to get use to it! Lots of people out Micky (Sweet alpha), Johnny (lots of KM's), Wayne, Dave, Greg F, Ray, Pugs, Karl, and Jamie to name a few. Tried the 20cm delta with my 7.3m switchblade and 117L Carbon Art, felt great!!!

Booti Booti Point , NSW, AU

Bit dissapointing with the breeze not really filling inshore. So had to settle for a choppy out wide sail.Better sailing than not I guess. Good company with Chris, Rob, Pete and Geoff out.

Thanks Geoff for a run on your 113 Falcon. Very nice feeling board and carbon weed fin combo. Smooth, comfy and skatey feel for such a volume, and the fin felt very direct and powerful. A bit tricky in the chop, but a great light to medium wind board. Catch up with you again next year Geoff.SL104 38BP weedy 6.5GTX.

My own stupidity happened ;-) Was so sure I could walk the 91 out to the wind. Google says I walked approx 900m out. I couldn't stand after that. Still didn't make it to the wind. But I was carrying the rig out of the water. A nasty back winded gust came through and slammed it down on me. I put my hand up to support it and straight through the biggest panel. Am wondering if over tight batons can make it super sensitive? It seemed to take no force at all. Check out my tracks - they're pretty funny. The Port Obs show it dropped a little and swung NNE at 5. Maybe the wind shadow got bigger cos the wind was not where I left it with the bigger board! So as it turned out, I spent just as long walking this time as the last time I was at Queens, but at least I had 2 legs this time ;-)

How olds the sail Salty? When they get really old they get brittle. I had one do that ( 90's model). It swung the wrong way 7 I put my hand up and it went through it..

I thought ok I'll get the panel fixed.. next stack I landed in the foot and tore a big hole...ok time for the bin..

Thanks Sue. Nah - it's only 18 months old and my gear pretty much had a holiday for all of 2013. Pretty disappointing. Touched it with a flat hand and crack! :-( I don't suppose anyone has any hot tips for a repairer?

Nic,

You can buy patches of clear tape to fix it. Or get the hole panel replaced. Go see Bill or their is a sail maker near Port that Mark Jordan knows.

Glenns youtube Video of fixing a sail.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8TvYSVus4Bw

You can see it on the Mid-North-Central Coast Marauders facebook page.

High Salty, I do sail repairs but I am in Coomba. If you came down for a sail on Wallis early one day could do a repair while you wait. Replacing a whole panel takes about 90 min and costs about $100. You can call me on 0431210409
