Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU. Tried Nash 180Litre speed board? with 8.5 Ezzy but needed mothership and 9.5. Gave up early as deck is way more slipry with mud on feet will have to try bootie's next time. Board was not so bad bouancy wise ? Will try again with more wind. Heaps of guys out Mentor Mick, Jason, newby Rob (I think), Later came speedster's Matt D, Hughie, Byron and Trebor, later the great pugsamania was heading out. I hope you all had a graet time.

And I hope everyone gets some good wind soon next week is looking good on Tues - Wed Maybe Cut sick all!!! "GO MARAUDERS"

Nice day on the water but the wind was not as strong as it looked so I was under done!

Lots of people out, Rob from my work was doing great! Loft 7.3m, 117L cardon Art and 20cm Delta fin.

Gosford, NSW, AU - Another nice NE'er but not as big as yesterday, about 12-15 knots this time.

Not as choppy either but still 1-2' in the middle at times. Used the same gear as Wednesday, 7.5 V8 + JP 112 + 31cm weedie. Got a few sweet but short runs near the shallows sometimes, but wind faded as session went on.

Sailed with Paul Davies who needed a sail to help him get over losing one of his gear boxes on Wed.

Cheers Marauders.

Great afternoon at Queens Lake with Mark. Ne 15-18 knots. Sailed the mud bank.

Booti Booti, NSW, AU No flat water and a bit flaky close in for my 6m GP2 but fun out back with some nice rolling swell. Go Ela on your PB averages. Sailed also with Andre, Rob and Anton. Anton was trialing Pete's delta fin and defied all logic by sailing it in heavy chop etc. Said it worked well and was steaming up wind on it.

Rob (1800km):

Booti Booti, NSW, AU No flat water today. Good one Ela

Booti Booti, NSW, AU

15-20 knots NEaster. choppy- hard to get some decent speed. 6.5NCXPro - Isonic 107. Tried new Gun Weed Control fin 33. Great to shave off the weed and to get upwind. Very happy with that fin. Sailed with Rob, Bill Anton and Ella. These guys are very deserving as they sailed non stop for the last few days. Good racing.

What size delta fins would you blokes recommend for me with the following combos:

falcon 113 with 7m and 7.9

falcon 79 with 6.3 and 7m

Thanks in advance

Hey AJ

I think maybe a 21cm for the 113L and 18cm for the 79L, as I am now using 20cm on my 7.3m with 117L board but it did take a while to get used to them! I use a 23cm on my big board with my 8.6m sail.

Thanks for your input Matt. I sailed one a while back (forget the size) and found it went awesome in most aspects, even ok in moderate chop if fully powered, but the gybes were kinda funky but you seem to be ripping great alphas on them so obviously like everything you tune in to them.

Looks like the launch from Laurieton worked well Mark. Best place to attack from in a NE you think?

Fully power up is the key! I found that going upwind was hard due to spin out as I put a lot of pressure on my back foot, so I sail upwind with my back foot out the back strap now and it works well! Gybes are Ok as long as you do not turn to fast a smooth arc is good!

Does any one have any old small wave sails that they do not want as I am looking a few for Rob the young bloke from work that has just started to sail.

Matty is right, powered up is the key. But I allways have my back foot in the strap, but try not to put any weight on my heal and try to keep it over the fin. If you do, it lets go just about straight away when jamming into the breeze. Ive found the 18 to be the best for my weight with no bigger than 6.6 sail and 59 wide board. Bigger board with fatter tail definately needs bigger Delta to compensate. Sorry Matty but i dissagree with the Gybes or alpha's, I find I can come in super fast but just need to come in and keep a nice arc with no sudden back foot pressure reducing the arc. Without these fins I'm sure my Pb's would be much lower. Body weight, board size and sail size will determine best size fin to suit. Just look at Matt D's and A's fin and combo size at 105/110kg to mine 90kg pulling awesome numbers on bigger Delta's and Boards. Me, I dont want to use bigger than 18 but if i had 100l board a 20 would work well with 7.5 or 8.3.

Awesome Alpha and Nm Mick given how underpoweered you were!!

Adam, for reference, I run a 21 Delta in th X-Fire - 105L, 65 wide. Woks a treat to if you ask me. Could easily go down to a 19 when its windy, and thats what I plan to do....

hey boys, well done, looks like a great sess, nice one woi bois, great alpha micky, great looking sess steve and mark, well done ella,,,,,,,,,,AJ, please, just ask me man, i actually use the same gear as you, the deltas are ok, and are getting better with practise, especially the crosswind and upwind, the delta needs work in these areas, but they are feeling better every sess, on the 113 falcon i use the 21 with the ka7.1, gripping crosswind better each sess to the point where i feel you could probably get a good hr on it, alphas can still be really fast, but just not too aggressive, eg cant come in and lay it down but you can come onto flat water and turn fairly aggressive, on my 89 falcon i use the 18 with the 7.1, a liitle bit slippery, and 6.2 sweet, the delta fins feel like there asking you to transfer power more on the top of the board as oppossed to off the windward rail, so if you wanna get real fine tuned with them i suggest using the 21 delta on the 113l with a 6.2 just to get the feel, they actually feel so different that im starting to have to re position harness lines to suit the new pressures and it may even require a slightly different rigging approach, thats if your really fine tuning, just stick with them for half a dozen sessions and they will be feeling sweet for ya, i cant really see myself using anything bigger than the 7.1 with the delta, the 7.9 would be a bit slippery, but if you got yourself real flat water, it feels like any combo would work, good luck AJ

oh yeah, I didn't really wanna bring it up, but after talking to mick and matt (their idea), they wanted me to ask about a new thing, a new distance category, reset for this yr to c which maurder sailed the most km for 2014, there is about five of us that would be pretty motivated of each others efforts plus its a category that doesn't revolve around speed, anypoooo, mick and matts idea

Miller, won't be bronze for long once you tune all that new gear in... I have no problem with the distance thing (as long at includes kms covered to actually get to the sailing location..:)) No way I could compete otherwise!!!

Mmmm Miller good idea but that will only benefit a small minority especially Steve. Smashing the ks out. Back to the deltas. A bit more time is needed to work out the best combo. They are a revolution to the sport and have really opened the door to speed sailing even in moderate breeze. Mark has leant me some 15 Deltas to try and I'm guessing they will work well in speed board with medium size sail. Well just have to wait and see. Powered up with flat water we can definately reduce the size of our fin.
