Sammy the snail (29353km):  3 categories    LG - 15-18knts, then 18-22 with odd 24.. Great day with an unexpected pb in bonus Start up on 5.8 with 55 Went for an hour when they all went for speed.. wanted to see what to expect with the actual water level at the front.. Thats very good news Tried some Alpha at the front too, and wasnt flat, so thats good news too for when the water gets better.. Then Jamie turned up and we decided to size down (a little optimistic), we went for some speed and play around on the 5m and 47 The wind never kicked in really and end up been a very cruisy sail. Just powered on 5m. Could probably hit 38+ on 5.8 but really enjoyed the 5. My NM was the last run from the speed run on the other side, blasting across the chops and passing on the front of the cars. Great to meet all the crews, lot of people and PBs.. lot of smiling face

Slowboat (49552km):  4 categories  liptons again yeehar some wind. This time used 5.5m and started on SP47 with 23cm Tribal speed fin. Wind wasnt fully cranking and was getting a few 41s and 42 here and there on that setup on both sides of the estuary. The wind looked like it was starting to boot so back to the car for the SP41 and desperately unused Tribal 16 asy which I've been hanging out to get onto again. Since the asy I have is for starboard tack I had to hit the other side of the estuary. But by the time I got there the wind had clocked around a little bit to the south and consequently got way more gusty with a frustrating wind line right on the edge of the choppy channel. Best run there was only a 42. Back to find a sym fin for port tack run and it was nuking! The only one I had was the CL24 carbon weed fin and it was sitting proud in the box so spent a while fiddle farting around making it fit. Finally hit the water... sailing out from the beach hit a sick gust and just kept going into the channel with it for 41.2kts on the dial peaking near the channel marker in the chop... yeeeehar. I gybed and went the other way for 43.4 on the dial just before I crashed as I sailed into a lull. oops! Managed to slide on my bum hanging on to everything until I skidded to a stop in waterstart posi. Then the wind dropped :( Got a few OK gusts to round out some more 10 secs but was spewing I wasted the best of the wind in the shadow behind the headland on the other side with the asy, and then pissfarting around on the beach trying to fit too big a fin into the board (hence the crash). Still a wicked day on the water. Great to see more PBs coming through and loads of smiles at the end. So much fun to have enough wind to be on the speed gear again. Yeeeeehar! | ||||||||||||||||||
| Istaaack (4358km): 2 categories Peel Inlet, WA, AU Awesome session down at Liptons and the otherside! Lots of crew down which made it fun and also congested in the very lucky speed patch we were all fighting for and the lucky gusts.
With these speeds im trying to convince myself i dont need a speed board. But i know that if i had a good speed board i could go an extra 2 or 3 knots faster The otherside wasnt super smooth so you had to hammer through the chop with entry speed and then maximise the gusts and flat water for the last 300m or so. Liptons is much the same, need to enter with lots of speed through heavy chop. only got one good powered run there today was a bit dissapointing but the potential is huge! Snides (28038km):  1 categories Peel Inlet, WA, AU fun day at liptons started on the e4 6.4 mistral47/maui delta 15 got a 38 on this fin early on before the wind kicked. as i came in to change fins the wind lifted to about 20-22kn requiring a rig down to the e5 5.4 and mistral 41 with a new loaner 20lockwood weedy. 2 runs later i had a 41.38 on the dial as the wind kicked to 25. 1 run later as the wind went ballistic i had a trip and went through the foot of the sail. This left a hole about a foot in diameter in the very foot of the sail. sailed back in and rigged the 4.7 which was too small in the bare offs. i think better speeds where on the card if i hadnt of stacked it..never mind next time. congrats to Claude and Isaac for firing today. Also to all the others as well,too numerous to mention. | ||||||||||||||||||
