3933 days ago 2 categories Golden Beach, QLD, AU a nice little afternoon blast on the pond in a very warm Northerly wind which is strange for mid March! anyway i'll take it as havent had much time on the water lately. Out with a few of the team, first with Hawk then he had to leave for work then Moz and later Gusto and a few other regular GB sailors. 6.6 HSM GPS Lorch 102 67w with BP type R 35 got the alpha on this combo, nice smooth water so did quite a lot of fully planing gybes, wind increased a bit so decided to try the 6.6 on the f2 speed board this is when I got my 2 sec peak, couldnt get past 29.8 on the bigger board. Combo worked quite well and that is definitely my best speed for this size sail for me. Good practice for Burrum, cant wait.

Good wind at the lake today athough it was a bit choppy as the wind got up. I was too lazy and didn't change down ,just managed to hold the big gear down in the gusts - it would have been a great sail if I was on the smaller gear.
Could have done a bigger distance but Greg decided to be a good samaritan and catch a kite that was blowing across the lake. He then decided to walk it in as no kiter was iattached. That left me holding two rigs in the water for about 45 min until he got back. . Pete, Chris and I were heard to say various things like - let the #####( insert your own word) thing go.

A Smashing 20knot Northerly.
A good afternoon’s sailing that got better as it went on. Started out on the new Scross 116. Felt a bit out of control at first and was really tired for some reason, but found the groove a bit later. I have to stay right up the back of this board to gybe it properly. Increasing wind required a change down to the Cross 104. That felt absolutely first class. It loves the BP fins too – tried the new 32.5 today under the 6.5 - so fast and comfy.
I love the Cross, it goes hard and gybes like a demon, but it’s breaking in half – again! I am becoming a board killer. It’s the third one I have broken at Queens. Into the repair shop it goes for major surgery and the introduction of some wood into the deck. At the same time I’ll add some more footstrap plugs, fix the deck on the Falcon, fix the nose on the Freewave, take the dents out of the Scross, finish painting the wave board, and do some mods to my good carbon boom. Roll on winter (!) so I can fix all this stuff and let my shoulders and toes heal up.
Cheetah 6.5, Scross 116, Cross 104, BP Type R 37.5, 35, 32.5
