Andrew Haigh (50494km): Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU Naish 95SP and Maui TR9 6.6m Poor nights sleep as I could hear the wind and was hoping it would still be blowing in the morning. Arrived at Buff st at 8.00 am, it was cold and drizzling. I was the only one in the car park! I could see someone already out sailing (Hugh). As always not as windy as hoped so rigged the 6.6m. Great session with many runs over 35kts. More and more guys turned up, in the end there would have been 15 or so. I wasn't gybing at the end of my runs because usually I needed a rest and a chance to look at the GPS. At the end of the day I did three gybes just so I would register something so Sue wouldn't beat me. One of them turned out ok. Surprised at the distance because most of the time I was standing next to my board.
sboardcrazy (25232km): F brilliant !! yeehaaa.. Wish we got days like this more often. Buff Pt 20-c 28kts + SW Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU.. Lake was up which meant it wasn't as smooth as it can get but no worries using the 18cms freemove weedie and sailing everywhere.. B cold- c 11degrees at start winter wettie and frozen hands early on. Snow predicted on Barrington tonight. Andrew already there and George from double demerits team. Great to use small gear! 78ltre Tabou Pocket wave , 4.8m Sailworks Hucker + 18cms freemove weedie. Got the 31kts + on this combo. Amazed myself by pulling off 98% of gybes + planing ones. I was really expecting an alpha PB.. Actually think the alpha was on my 68ltre Starboard acid waveboard which is amazing as its the first time I've used it! Decided to take it out with a 4.2m revo sail. Worried as never sailed a sinker before and all these tales about gybing woes..Amazed myself by actually doing planing gybes on it and not muffing any gybes!! Last run of the day across the channel back the wind died and the board submerged.. luckily a gust came and I got going again. Have to be careful where I use it but it's going to be my favourite board! I was hoping to get a Pb on it but a bit much for the first sail i suppose - easily gets 28kts which is more than i can say for my other boards. Had my first ever stack in the shallow water..unhooked for a gybe ( massively powered up) and the rig got whipped out of my hands ( sprained a few fingers) and I cartwheeled 3 x across the water.. Buzzing.. Got some decent bearaways for once.. Lots out many from 7th st. Milsy , Mick , Russ, Bryon + Hugh, + others..Feel Im sailing really well getting practically all my gybes + planing.. Just need to work on getting upwind better + timing my runs so I get a decent gust.. Seemed all the gusts were when I was working back up ..Definitely got a chance to get better speeds with this new board.. Norah graph underreads heaps in a SW- I measured 27kts off the pt and it was more than that in the gusts.
rus13b (5160km): Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU. 1st sail at seventh ave, wow what a spot & day. 5.7 warp, f2 273 98lt, 24 weedy, no delta. The water is so flat, theres a bit of chop out in the middle but the flat bits are unreal. i was making planing gybes every time, that place is such a treat. i wish i hadnt missed winter, i just found out what i realy missed out on. woo hoo a pb aswell.
Hugh (11029km): Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU great sail today good to cath up with everone carbon art speed 47 / delta 16/19 loft blade 7 well done byron smashed it
Byron Mcilveen (64562km): Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU wow 7 months of not sailing good to be back. very sore and tired. had to rush off to work and 1 am in morning now typing this. unreal to sail with evry one again so friendly great results across the park. It was reasonable flat and we had wind. I was first there up at 5 15 and at 7th avenu before 6 30. riged 5.5 TR8 with 44 CA and 20cm vector 48 deg. combo was good but not enough wind for 5.5 arm chair sailing managed over 39 knots. came in riged 6.6TR9 with home made 21.5cm 50 deg carbon fin my design beter got me over 40 a couple of times. still wanting more wind. started blowing a bit more after I had a break and managed 42 1 second peak and multiple over 40 funny still wanting more wind just unreal but to get top speeds you need to be fully powered and I just could not get fully lit. Seem to loose alot of wind strength over the weed banks. I will sleep well and hope I dont wake up to sore espetialy my elbows shit I did some KM today. Happy chapy although I thought my alfa would be beter done some smoking gybes but at 40 knots on speed board must have been outside the 50. |
