Chinaman (2860km): Mallacoota, VIC, AU Looked like it was going to be a good session, more rain than wind though Nice angle but wind was very light and died out very quickly. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. The old boy need sto go on a crash diet he seems to struggle in light conditions.
Falcon 89l, koncept 6.2
kato (37642km): An early start at the Pit with Matt from D.D. Lots of sailors with the SHQ Comp on as well having fun. Pretty brutal conditions with a very squally wind that would come from all directions. Tomorrow should be a better day for playing on big gear. Still loving the new Koncepts Sl53,Koncept 5.8, Venom 30
Sailquik (29582km): SHQ cup weekend at Sandy Point. Not a bad speed day. The organisers asked us if we wanted to slalom race. Sorry, we are going speed sailing. It would have been extremely hard to get any kind of racing in that wind anyhow. Yanakie gauge was reading 25-35 'ish most of the day with some squalls reading 46 knots. It was definitly over 40 in a couple of squalls on the spit. Both times when I was walking back! Martin Love got the last one and topped the max speed I think with a high 43. Lots of freesailors and a few freestylers so you had to pick your timing for a run but everyone was pretty aware which was good. I came back and loaded up my vest with 7-8kg for the last 5 runs and that did me in. On the last run I could barely keep a grip on the boom so I had to call it a day. Very frustrating because I had 4 runs in the mid 42's and the 5th was mid 40's. One more would have been great. I also lost the GPS off my arm in a crash without realising until I sailed away. Thats the second I have lost that way and I am down 2 GPS in the last month. The other died whist charging. Only 3 left. Might have to grab another one while I can. Earlier in the day I had some great squalls and was surprised I was barely over 40 knots. Then I discovered that my downhaul rope was braken. The sheath had stripped off the core and allowed it to extend 4-5cm. No wonder the sail felt terrible and slow. After replacing that every run was over 42 knots and the sail felt wonderful again. Kato was doing his thing again. He was in just after dawn doing long laps of the inlet before the wind kicked in. Even when it did he continued on a smaller sail and slalom board. Craig is different from most of us! Spotty, Martin and Peter should have something to post as well. CA40, Tribal Lockwood 18cm assy, 2014 KA Koncept 5.4m.

Peter Johnston (8869km): Sandy Point - fun day with lots of familiar faces including most of the Bonno crew. Actually not to crazy on the speed strip given how many were out. F2 Missile XS w KA Assy 20cm and 5m KA Koncept - a tad overpowered at times...7kg of weight on my 70kg frame for the second half which helped a bit, but still couldn't sheet in on some of the more feisty squalls...
Mr Love (6877km): First day of SHQ event at Sandy Point. Gustly Westerly that went slighly WSW late, hard work. Started on the big Speed gear and 6.3 KA Race but after getting lifted up and swatted by a big gust I changed to the old luv muss original and a Koncept 5.0 with a super trashed fin. Unfortunately the tribals didn't get here in time. Fun and hopefully more today.
Mathew Robertson (8362km): Primbee, NSW, AU - iSonic 74, 6.6 Koncept, 28cm Lessechner Turned up at Primbee for a sail, to see the carpark nearly full ! Lots of sailors out on mostly big gear. Happy with the NM as I was mostly just blasting around - hooked into a gust hoping for something quick, but it hung in there for about 1km, so decided to milk it for the NM. There was two rain squalls where the speed board could have been the go, but with the lightening only 0.5 seconds away, it didn't seem like a good idea to go out on the water with a carbon conductor... especially given that one of the other guys in the local windsurfing community, already has a good tale to tell.
